I seem to recall that the lower of the staple game prices here being $4.99. Did they go up a dollar? Or am I wrong and it was always $5.99?

Recently noticed my price display is default on euro (being in Europe and stuff), but seem to remember that gog.com at some point send the message that they think $1 is not the same as €1 and would make sure about that.

In any event, €7.99 equals $10, which seems solid in this regard.

It was $5.99 from the beginning.

You can change currency at the bottom of the page (except for forums).
Thanks.

Prices like 5.99 to mask 6.00 is an excellent marketing strategy, which had me confused here. 4.99 and 5.99 both have you thinking 5, which is such a good number to the brain.

It was always 5.99$. If a game is more expensive in a country than it is in USA, you get an in-store credit for the difference. But most games are still equally priced everywhere. The display in Euro is just for convenience and is updated from time to time if conversion rates change.

That was before regional pricing was introduced. Some titles actually do have the same price in euro now that they have in dollar, so pay close attention. GOG tries to make up for it by giving you store credit, if you're negatively affected by the regional pricing, but you will have to pay more than in the US at first, for some of the newer additions to the catalogue.

EDIT: Here's a list of regionally priced games on GOG, courtesy of IAmSinistar.

I actually despise those common 0.99 prices, but I forgive GOG for them, because they've been good at many other important things so far :P

Actually, the old (1.0) installers had ads for other (similar?) games and frequently showed the prices as $4.99 and $9.99. I can't recall if it was $4.99 to begin with but changed to $5.99 within a few months from launch, or if the plan was to have $4.99 as the lower price but it was changed to $5.99 before launch (so late that there wasn't time enough to replace advertisements).
