WBGhiro: -Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, this is the first one in the series, right?
-Fire Emblem: Awakening Can I get into this one without having played any of the previous entries?
-Bravely Default
-Ghost Trick
It's a Nintendo console and you didn't even think of Nintendo games? Go buy every 3DS game at the store with "Mario" on the title, they're all good. Also Zelda and Animal Crossing and Pokémon.

Also, is the eShop available where you're at (seems to be Italy)? I'd like that info please, thanks.

catpower1980: Don't forget to buy an electrical plug though...

WBGhiro: Oh yeah I heard that from a rather disappointed amazon review, it's a pretty cheeky move I agree but at least that thing is cheap.

and since you mention the Eshop, I heard there's some kind of DRM in it and the games are basically tied to your device instead of an account? do the disks/cartridges have DRM too?
Yes, they're tied to your device. I believe you can keep a backup copy. Do read the manual carefully on that one though.

I know, right? I'm such a fucking hipster. I'll probably end up buying them sooner or later but right now it's not what I'm craving.

Yeah the Eshop is available both here and were I'm moving.
We have:

Virtue's Last Reward
Pokemon X
Animal Crossing New Leaf
Tomodachi Life
Fire Emblem Awakening

And really, really really looking forward to Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in early 2015

WBGhiro: I've been thinking about buying a 3Ds since I'll be doing a lot of moving in the next months and might not be able to setup a gaming PC, So i thought I might try out the 3DSXL.

So far I got these games I thought I'd try:

-Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, this is the first one in the series, right?
-Fire Emblem: Awakening Can I get into this one without having played any of the previous entries?
-Bravely Default
-Ghost Trick

Any other great games I've missed?

If you own a 3DS what are your thoughts on it? Satisfied or disappointed?
I got a 3DS-XL and strongly advise against the big version.
The screen resolution of the 3DS is so low, that the pixel density is really really bad on the big screens, especcially in 3D mode it looks like in DOS days.

Regarding games: I only got Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition and think it's shit.
For the system to handle the graphics they removed every motion from the backgrounds and you are fighting in front of a still image.

I only use my 3DS-XL for the old NDS games, because current games for it are too expensive imho or simply uninteresting for me.

Zelda: A link between worlds looks like a good reference to the best Zelda "A link to the past" though.

I forgot one that I picked up recently, Retro Game Challenge. It's based on a Japanese TV show(which is worth a watch too) and parodies a lot of old Nintendo console games.

ROFL at the exageration. OP, if you've got the chance try the two models, compare them irl and make your own mind (keep in mind the hand/thumb confort)

Oh yeah, Retro City Rampage is also available on the eshop (got it on vita and it's better on a handheld than on PC)

I love my 2DS, which is pretty much the same thing as a 3DS just cheaper and only 2D :P

I hate Mario games... Zelda games... lugi...donkey kong... and every other platformer. I didn't grow up with them as a child so naturally I don't' like them.

I thought that that would cause me issues when I got my 2DS but I was wayyy wrong! I've got allot of great games on 2DS even though I'm uber picky so I love it!

Fire Emblem Awakening is amazing! Never played a prvious FE game, only knew about IKE and Marth from Smahs Bros, that's the extent of my FE knowledge and thankfully the game is great and teaching you how to play. I don't think there's any thing harking back to the old games aside from gameplay. But you can get DLC to get old heroes like Marth and it tells you about him. Trust me.. get it!

Bravely Default is good as well, very beautiful game, almost hand painted backgrounds. The combat is rather long and drawn out however. I find it's allot of hit the enemy, heal, hit, heal. The boss battles for me take around 20 minutes of constant hit, heal strategy. it's a good game, it just takes a while to play.

While it's not for everyone, Animal Crossing New Leaf is a great game. When people explain it it sounds really boring. "your a mayor of a town, you collect bugs, fish, fosels and fruit, sell it for money and just chill in your town..."
I was on the other end of this conversation once, sounded boring and like a chore. I gave it a chance and bought it, one of my favorite games on the 2DS, I highly recommend it! It's a great game to just sit around and play if you don't want objectives and difficulty, a nice relaxing game.

Aside from those games I do have Mario golf which is fun as well as Pokemon X and Scribblenauts unlimited. I don't know anything about Phoenix Wright so can't help you there, or the other games you mentioned...

Good luck though, I love my 2DS and I hope you try it out.

Honestly I've no idea how to buy games using a nintendo console, I'll let you know once I buy my 3DSXL.

I wish there was something like a 2DSXL or that you could at least open/close it like a 3DS, but I think I'll take the bigger screen and comfier button placement over saving some dosh. Pity though since i'll probably never use the 3D stuff anyways.

I guess i'll keep an eye out for animal crossing too, I'm genuinely surprised at the kinds of games i'm getting suggested which also makes me exctited to see if they'll actually hold up.

Oh wait, I misread it as you having already bought the 3DS. Do report back on the eShop once you own it!

My biggest issue with the 3DS is that I have big hands, some say freakishly big hands... not big, but long fingers, I'm really good at cello because I can stretch uber easy, so having a small device like PSP or even original DS was painful in ways because my hands couldn't stretch, the slate design however of the 2DS is perfect for me, but I do agree, I wish there was a bigger screen varriant of the 2DS.

And yeah, I was looking at the Vita or the 3DS and comparing games and I'm surprised that I have as many 3DS games as I do have, and I play them all equally as well. Even though I don't like Mario and Zelda and such, there's so many good games on the system.
Yo, I'm upping this thread hoping that OP hasn't bought his 3ds yet becuase Nintendo has just announced a new version of 3DS (both for "normal" and XL editions) with more buttons and the procesor should be a little bit more powerful:
http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/08/29/new-3ds-and-3ds-xl-announced-with-extra-buttons
Sounds nice, and now I'm hearing news about Xenoblade Chronicles being ported to the 3DS (well...the new 3DS).

http://www.siliconera.com/2014/08/29/xenoblade-chronicles-remake-announced-new-nintendo-3ds/

Disappointing that it won't be playable on the older models, but I'm in no rush to replace my current one.

I still need to finish Xenoblade. =/
Hah! Just my luck.

I'll get a 3DSXL anyways, it'll be at least half year before that thing ships to Europe, and I was planning to get one before October.

I do hope that means the older models get a meaty pricecut.
Not a game made strictly for the 3DS, but if you can track it down, I would strongly suggest The World Ends With You. To properly play it requires good multi-tasking abilities, and its tone and story are both fairly thought-provoking. Also, it sports a really stylish art style.
