Hmmm... Maybe I could bring my Playstation to the GOG party and we GOgers could play a bit of Soul Calibur and Tekken there? :-D

Power Stone is a great social fighter. I preferred playing the first one if I was going solo, but 2 was better geared for several players. I think they put a version on one of the Sony handhelds, but I don't think they have revived the game outside of that, which I think is unfortunate.

Nah, ya need a Dreamcast to play Soul Calibur, so I need to bring that, I suppose I could provide that.

Don't think he said what version of PS or what version of SC. Soul Calibur 2 is an excellent version of the game, and on many platforms including PS2. Which also has 3 Tekken Versions. With a PS3 you there is even a Soul Cal / Tekken 6 double disc set

*she ;-)

True, I should have specified:
I have Soul Calibur II, Tekken 3 and Tekken 5. I have a PS2 to run them and hopefully I could find my memory sticks so that we could have everything the games have to offer at our disposal.
I'm not extremely good at any of those games but I enjoy them a lot and would love to play against human opponents.

Ryu has failed at pattern logic.

Both 1 & 2 were packaged together as Power Stone Collection and released on the PSP a few years back. Both games are incredible and are two of the best games that were produced for the Dreamcast. Back when I moderated the video gaming area for a local convention, the Dreamcast was always a mainstay and Power Stone 2 was one of the five games I would always make sure was readily available for play. I don't know anyone that dislikes these games.
I didn't see any mention of KOF Maximum Impact. I really wanted them to finish that trilogy. Guess it'll never happen though, since it wasn't popular. Oh well, it's worth a mention anyway, in case people missed out : )
My all time favorite fighting game is Tobal No.2 from 1997, sadly it's virtually unknown outside Japan but one of my buddies had an imported PS1 so I got lucky enough to play this. The game has 200 playable characters and some of them are hilarious, plus there's a very fun quest mode. This was the one moment in gaming history when I seriously considered buying a console just for that game, committing PC master race betrayal. I ended up staying with PCs as I didn't have enough money for both but I'll never forget Tobal No.2 , made even more of an impression one me than Golden Eye, Final Fantasy 7, MGS1 and Soul Calibur 1.

I had no idea that they made 3D KOF games, that's pretty neat.

That was pretty neat, I did notice that there was a character that looked pretty much like Mokujin which is odd, but with art by Akira Toriyama that's pretty cool. You are right about popularity, I just looked and it's barely available over here. I have a Japanese Saturn, but not Playstation. On the subject, does the PS3 allow use of imports, I know that Blu-Rays are almost never regioned, but wasn't sure about that.

In a beat-em-up where you can play as a chocobo, hammer, penguin, priest and even as a totem head, nothing is odd :)
You have a very keen eye though, the wooden guy from Tobal and Tekken are pretty much the same character indeed, if you watch the movie trailer for 'Shaoling Wooden Men' and go to minute mark 03:09 you'll see what both characters were based on, according to the info on this page:
