NISA staff is currently posting on the game's Steam forum, so now might be a good time to ask them for a GOG release.
NISA is very slow at realizing the potential with the PC market. Hell, they didn't really do discounts on steam up until about a year ago. Took them years to start releasing newer games on Steam too. I imagine none of their games will hit GOG for a few more years, if ever.
Oh, good. It looks like in addition to no GOG release, Ys VIII might be ready to join Sonic Mania in the Denuvo craze.

The guy's comment seems to doubt this, but devs that initially said they don't know about Denuvo yet tend to have it when the game is released.
Denuvo in Ys VIII? Truly, these are dark times that we are living in...

and none of the GOG users will bother to give financial (or even give a steam key) support to the people that have cracked Denuvo when the Ys VIII comes out with it. Of course everyone here will give themselves a pat on the back for pouting, sitting with arms crossed and doing absolutely nothing in the face of a new game with Denuvo, thats always made developers/publishers release their game on GOG MUCH faster. /s

I personally hope it does come with Denuvo to spite the DRM-free audience here.

When last I looked, I didn't think anyone should have been facilitating piracy financially, let alone morally. Don't get me wrong - I find the work that cracking groups do to circumvent such DRM essential, but it's not a charitable enterprise - the use of these cracks is a necessary evil enabled by a legally & morally dubious party.

Are you really that naive to believe that a game being cracked will discourage the use of DRM? No, publishers just then resort to even more extreme measures, such as always-on DRM or experiences dependent on online services (see Absolver).

The only way that publishers like NISA can learn their lesson is with poor sales combined with low piracy. Otherwise, they'll just always fall back on piracy to excuse their own failures.

Unfortunately, given that 98% of the gaming community is made up of sycophantic morons who'll blame everyone but themselves for their ignorance when their decision to support DRM-infected rubbish with full-price purchases comes back to bite them on the ass, don't expect sales to diminish any time soon.
