zeogold: Whoa. I didn't know Poland made films.
avatar
Johny.: Ha - ha. :)

Description that Judas linked is really bad :P

The movie is about life full of paradoxes in Polish People's Republic (communism time), it's using surreal humor to get past censorship at the time of making (1980).

P.S. We will investigate what we can do with the ad (although I didn't see it).
It's bad because it's an English description of a Polish movie about a time period that was specific to Poland and other Soviet Bloc countries :P

Not only that, they even make games! They are almost like a real country, with their own currency and all.
Even moderator hijack posts.
What a shame.

Maighstir: Right. My bad. The small banner ads are still displayed, it's just the before-the-video ads you have to wait a few seconds to skip that require Flash.
avatar
timppu: Hmmm... no, I get those "before-the-video-ads which you can skip after a few seconds" also without the Flash Player. Just tried it.

I had Flash Player installed on this before, but I recently uninstalled it because I got fed up updating it all the time. Now the videos on certain news sites don't play (they specifically complain about the missing Flash plug-in), but that's ok. Youtube seems to work the same as before.
Hmm... so this goes to show that I'm apparently relying on information that's either old or just false. May very well be that whatever streaming tech they use to insert those ads (DASH?) is not yet supported by all browsers (notably Pale Moon, which I use by default). They also serve 1080p and higher-resolution video only through DASH, which means I can only stream 720 and lower (on the other hand I don't have to bother with those ads).

Apparently none of you use hosts-file blocking?

No way. Next you're going to tell me there's actual people living there or something.

Ah, interesting. Thanks for the background info.

Sorry, wasn't trying to hijack the thread. I was legitimately curious, and they said they're looking into the issue you mentioned..
Plus, ain't the staff allowed a little fun every now and then?

No worries. I don't care much. ;)

Just pointing out that GOG forum is very painful, along other things, because nearly any post get hijecked quite soon with total rubbish.
Often with moderators contribute.

Sorry for the offtopic. :) I'm just a silly developer. ;)

As for advertisement itself, I've passed the info further, but I can assure you it was not GOG that enabled the ad in the video.

If you could, please attach an image of how the ad breaks the video (maybe others could check this game?) because I can't reproduce it, and it would be nice to prevent similar cases in the future.

I don't believe the adverts are injected by GOG, it just an annojance.

Meh, I'd rather at least have some sort of indication that they're actually alive and existent, which can seem rare some days.
