Leroux: Is it typically German to be self-aware, self-critical, or even self-deprecating at times?
avatar
HunchBluntley: I'm not German, but from my limited experience interacting with German people (in person and online), as well as just general info gleaned from various media, I would say the tendency toward being self-critical generally applies, both for individual Germans and the nation as a whole. Self-awareness, though, I think varies from person to person, no matter the culture, and self-deprecation usually requires some level of self-awareness, so that might be hit-or-miss, too. : )
Thanks for pointing that out! I wasn't quite sure which word to use, but I think self-critical comes closest to what I was after; self-aware sounds too deep. :D
I don't spend money on luxuries then complain that I have no money for essential living.
I also don't have the urge to go traveling on holidays. Ever.

Emob78: Are you suggesting that people of low intelligence undermine political movements, or that they define political movements?
Neither. However, xenophobia best expands in an empty head, where it has enough space.

Not my aphorism. I took most of it from Bud Spencer.

I didn't ask you. I was asking Tiny. You know, the guy who prefers to use pictures instead of words to express his ideas.

Then again, I can appreciate your honesty. Your profound xenophobia for all things American (or generally freedom related) is noted.
I prefer "Mr. E" if you don't mind.

It never ceases to amuse when someone ridicules the intellect of others with a post riddled with errors.

I don't like fries, sports, and drinking. Seems to be the main past times around here.

Or from home state; I hate driving.

Well at least one form of bigotry is allowed here. That said, I'd bet money that the 3rd pic is satire/false-flag like the classic "Get a brain morans" guy.

The original "morans" sign (see real.jpg) is legit.

The subsequent countless pics of the guy and the sign in different areas (see fake.jpg), rallies, protest etc are all obviously fake. I assure you, the original is the real thing. Saddly, VERY SADLY, that original real photo was taken a few miles from my previous home, where I lived for 30 years.
