Leroux: Nothing will make a great addition to everyone's library.

PixelBoy: Yeah, especially if it's handled like the secret Telltale giveaway scandal a while back.

Whatever GOG is going to do, we can only hope they are open about it and give an equal chance for all users.
My point was rather that no matter what you do, someone will always end up being unhappy with it, so trying to please everybody will most probably fail anyway.

Why scandal?

Crisco1492: Well, assuming the developers and publishers agreed, I'd expect Limbo or To the Moon would be crowd pleasers. If it had to be something more obscure, well I had fun with Waking Mars.

But after a year here, I have to say GOG likes giving a range of games. I see Sunless Sea, Rime, and Unreal Gold on my shelf, among others. It hasn't just been point and clicks or adventures.
Yeah I was pleasantly surprised to see Rime given away. Ultimately I found it to be lacking but I did want to try it and it's undeniably a beautiful game. Giveaways like that really help to elevate GoG as the place to find cool modern indies.

Limbo would be a great add. I haven't gotten around to playing To the Moon yet, it's still in the backlog.

It's a scandal for them to give games to people who have them wishlisted? That's less of a scandal and more of a giveaway.

Or do you also think contests are scandals? I assume you are a member of the participation ribbon generation.

We have had this conversation before, so there's no reason to go through it all over again. But with that wishlist giveaway, MOST Gog users didn't have a chance to participate, and MOST Gog users to this day don't know such a thing ever existed, because it was done in secret and not counting a single "blue" reply in a thread started by a Gog user, they never said anything about that giveaway.

Contests are OK, if you publicly announce them, publicly tell the rules, and publicly tell what the prizes will be. Winners may remain secret due to privacy concerns, obviously.

I just wish it ran smoother on my laptop. I had to uninstall it after I couldn't get much more than 20 FPS on my laptop. Oxenfree was thoroughly enjoyable, though. Haven't played any of the other free games I've received.
