I was just wondering what was your first PC. One that really played mainstream PC games.

Mine was a HP 286 10 MHz with 640k RAM. Spent the extra for a 40 meg Hard Drive (slow version), so I could save my entire life on the HD! Also bought the latest and greatest EGA monitor.

This computer was build like a tank, and the keyboard was likely about 5-7 pounds.

All this only cost me about $4,500 back in the day!

Purchased with Wordperfect 5.1. By the way, WP toll free number connected you to a DJ that played music and announced wait times!

My first game was Space Quest. It was a blast trying to type in the right words to get through the game.

The game was Aztec and I miss it to this day.
A 386, and I'm not sure what I played on it first since it already had some games installed: Commander Keen 1, Civilization, Test Drive 1. The first game that my parents bought for me was Bio Menace which I still play every now and again.
Sinclair ZX81. Snake.

3 years later I received an Amstrad CPC 464 as a birthday gift with three games: Oh Mummy, Harrier Attack and Roland in the Caves.

486DX with 16MB RAM and a 100MB HD. First game was Wing Commander 2, then Master of Magic. MoM was the first game I bought here.

My first computer was a Commodore 64. I can't remember the first game I had, but some of the earlier I remember were Archon (my favorite until Maniac Mansion was released), Ghostbusters, Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Dinos Eggs, Forbidden Forest (which scared the hell out of me) and Aztec Challenge.

After that we had a 286, I think, with an EGA monitor. And the first two games I had were Hard Hat Mack and Alley Cat.
This is a little tougher since it depends on how it is qualified.

The first computer I know I used was the Atari800XL, and the first game... I don't know. Toss up between Pacman, Defender, Fort Apocalypse, Joust, and probably a handful of other games.

The first computer that I actually owned? That's different, 33Mhz 286SX 4Mb Yamaha laptop (I think it was) and the first game, well I had no money at that age so DOOM (Shareware).

First desktop? Hmmm.. 386DX 100Mhz 8MB, Windows 95, as for games... Going to have to say Nesticle and roms...
Ha, good thread :)
My first PC was 486DX 33MHz, 4 MB RAM.
First games on PC: Nascar Racing, Battle Bugs & Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
Apple ][+. Either Ultima I or The Cosmic Balance. (Probably the former, but it was 35 years ago; I honestly no longer remember which one I bought first.)
Commodore Vic 20. I cannot remember the first game, but it was probably a version of Pac-Man or Space Invaders.
IBM PC Jr. First game was ether Zork or Space Quest. Can't remember.

Space Quest then had only 4 colors :P CGA monitors and uber graphics maxed at 16 colors, those where the times. :)

A x86 PC, or does "PC" here mean any system/home computer capable of running games?

If PC, my first own one was a 486DX/33. It was a pretty bad ass gaming PC at the time I guess. The first game I played on it was either Red Baron or Wing Commander, not quite sure which one I played first. Maybe Red Baron.

However I had played other older PC games already before on other people's PCs, sometimes my big brother had even borrowed a PC from somewhere. I e.g. recall liking Gunboat a lot, that was when I decided I want a gaming PC at some point myself. Learning about games like Red Baron and Wing Commander 1-2 just solidified my decision.

I had other gaming computers before the PC though, like Commodore Amiga 500.

My first PC was Zx Spectrum and a first game is Kane ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtNEl8KyvBk ). It was so long ago...
I don't even remember my first machine, it was probably bought before I had memory :D. Not sure what my first game was either. If you mean one I played myself, perhaps The Playroom (kid's edutainment) or maybe the original Prince of Persia. I was 3-4, hard to keep track :D.
The first PC games I ever played were Ghostbusters, which I was too young to figure out, and Defender, which I thought was really cool. A little later I played Scubaventure, which was fun, and Adventure, which I got totally immersed in. A couple years later I played Space Quest and was a total nerd from that point on.

The first PC my family had was a 386SX-33 that was just barely strong enough to play Doom. We enjoyed lots of games on that, like the Space Quest series, Dagger of Amon Ra, X-Com, Scorched Earth, lots of shareware.
