Thanks, I think that is it. I don't recall where I read that that may slow down the writing process a lot if you intend to write lots of data to the disk at the same time. So I got an impression such "shingled" hard drives are more suitable to storage drives where you add more data in smaller quantities.

I guess I wouldn't otherwise care, but sometimes I tend to make 1:1 copies of hard drives, by simply copying all files in one swoop from one HDD to another. That's like, several terabytes of data copied in one swoop. :)

But maybe in the end it doesn't matter that much, and as said i wouldn't be surprised my older 2TB and 3TB hard drives are already "shingled".
