This post inspired me to start this thread.

I'd love to see pictures of everyone's favorite novel covers and to talk about them.

My favorite covers have always been fantasy novels, but this is for ALL novels and their covers. It doesn't even have to be painting/drawing, you can expand into old editions of Don Quixote because you like the trim they did around the edges or something.

Here's a bunch, I will add to it as I get the time to find the images and post them.

I can't recall the exact details, so I won't try. But I just love how much it conveys with its very simple and silly character.

The novel By Light Alone has the prettiest cover I've seen. The book is said to be terrible.

edit: I followed your link and I have to disagree with you on general principle. The chronological order of publication is definitely not "how the creator intended" for people to experience the work.

When I saw the poster for the book cover for Salamandastron in school, that got me interested enough to pick up the Redwall books.

One of my favourite covers is from one particular edition of Larry Niven's novel (not the cover on that page). Oddly enough, the same illustration was used somewhere else in a completely unrelated context, namely for the game [url=http://www.mobygames.com/game/blood-money]Blood Money. I happen to know why though, because I wrote to the illustrator to ask him about it, since I was curious. It turns out that Peter Andrew Jones, who did the illustration, was a friend of Roger Dean, who was the lead stylist at Psygnosis at the time. Dean liked the illustration and asked Jones to license the use of it for the game.
