Shadow Tactics. It took me around 2 years to get to it, but I'm glad I did.

(Keep in mind the Commandos series are one my favourite games ever). ^^

firstpastthepost: I wait until they're steeply discounted before purchasing... so I can give you my game of the year for 2016.
release year is irrelevant, pretty much if you played it within the last year or so it is valid.
a lot of games come out full of bugs these days anyway (POE 2 and pathfinder), only to be fixed within a year or 2.
also some DRM is removed from games after some time.
unless its multiplayer i dont see much benefit in spending more money for a worse product.
I'm going to say Subnautica. It's amazing. A game that's both yet another goddamn survival crafting game and one giant water level is not only tolerable, but actually really good. Who would've thought?

zer00o: that's where my user name comes from. perhaps the best storytelling ive experienced in a video game.
legit why I bought a ps3. I even owned the game before I purchased my ps3 because I had to buy my grandma an air conditioner so I had to wait until next pay day to get my ps3. that's another issue with the ps4, I cant play ps3 games. sony is straight wack for that.

Another vote for Subnautica here.
Kingdom Come

from what i heard the game devs made some QOL choices eg making it difficult to save the game or fast travel. was that ever patched or is it part of the experience like in red dead?

Phantom Doctrine

had dismissed this as an inferior xcom but might check it out this year.

They worked out the save thing. It really is sort of part of the experience, but I'm pretty sure they added in an expanded save system. I stuck with the original - but it did end up with a functioning save on exit that was pretty helpful.

Fast travel is in the game, but you can't do it from anywhere. You have to fast travel to markers. I (embarrassingly) can't remember if you also have to be AT the marker to travel to another one. Once you get a horse travel is a lot easier, once you explore the world a bit travel is a lot easier.

I *feel* like you CAN fast travel TO any marker from anywhere (without being at a marker) but I don't remember 100%. I think I basically got stuck out in the woods a few times unable to fast travel because I was overencumbered (which makes me think if I WEREN'T overencumbered I could have just fast travelled from anywhere).
