I installed the game. Hit shortcut and\or play. Old install box appears asking to install, hit that button asks for cd 1?

Try closing the game and reopening it.
With Dark Reign i've seen the game ask for a disc. It means it probably didn't mount correctly during the startup process. Simply 'turning it off and on again' may be all you need.

That doesn't work. And I can't speak for the OP, but that was probably the very first troubleshooting step they took. SMH
