Hello GOGers,

I'm Mike, Team17's community manager. I wanted to come along to the forum and set up a new thread about today's news that Worms World Party Remastered has been delayed. Here's the skinny:

During final testing for today's release of the game, our QA team discovered a critical bug buried deep in the game's code.

No one at Team17 is happy releasing the game with this bug in place. We'll be working our prods off to get this fixed and on sale as soon as possible. I don't currently have an ETA for you, our dev team are looking at how long the bug will take to fix and how many people we can put onto fixing it right now. As soon as I know more, I'll let you know here.

You can use this thread to get updates from me, or to ask me anything in general about Team17/Worms. I'm managing this news across a lot of channels today, so please bear with me as it may take some time for me to reply!

Love,
MT17
Welcome to Gog.
Well I appreciate you taking the time to make a post on the gog forums. I'm a bit disappointed that this game may not released today, but at least it will be less buggy.
Can you / are you allowed to explain what the bug does? Would be interesting to know.

I can't go into detail I'm afraid, but it was absolutely buried in the original game's code and would have been noticed by a large portion of players. Our QA guys spotted it during final testing and our programmers are now applying baseball bats to its face.

Hi Team 17 representative! Glad to see you around here! Since you're here I'd like to ask something regarding the system requirements: How come they are somewhat high? I'd like to buy WWP Remastered at launch but I'm on holidays and don't have access to a pc with a 2.4 Ghz processor (the one I have with me has only 1.8 Ghz), so I'm worried that the game might not run in this pc I have right now. So, would I be able to run the game with lower specs than the ones specified on the game page or not? Because if not, I'll wait till I get back from holidays and then think on getting the game. Thanks in advance for your help.
Well, I won't lie, I was disappointed with the delay, and with the fact if it was a serious bug I would have expected it to be caught before the 11th hour, so to speak, but the fact that a company rep came onto the forums to explain and apologize? That makes it a lot more palatable! Kudos from me, Mike.

Still looks like I'm gonna have to play Worms 2* today, but oh well. :P

*Since GOG doesn't have Armageddon for sale, hint, hint...

System specs are a funny business - they're our assessment of what hardware you'll need to run the game flawlessly coupled with us covering ourselves from a legal perspective from any problems arising out of old/poor hardware. That's not to say that the game won't run on lower specs, but it does mean that we can't guarantee that we'll be able to fix a problem you're having if your specs are lower than the minimum. We'll always try though and you can contact our support team here:

Also, has anyone told you that your avatar rocks yet?

Hey Steely!

I get it. I'm sad too. I had hoped to sit on WWP tonight and own all the newbies because that's just the kind of kind and loving community manager that I am (they gotta learn somehow, right?). Personally I'm crazy glad that it was spotted before release though, no one here wants to release a game with a major bug in it.

Absolutely - the more we hear about this, the more ammo I have to kick the devs in the shins until they make it ;)

Thanks for your reply. Admittedly, I've seen games with higher system requirements running on lower hardware and the inverse before, and that's why I asked -because I think I can't thus take these to the letter but as general guidelines. Anyways, I'll think a bit more on whether my purchase of WWP can wait or not (I might take the risk, but I might also remain reluctant, I'll see...), and on the meanwhile I'll ask one more thing, just to be certain: The Remastered version does have all the language packs the original had, right? Because I have the original WWP on disk (played as a kid and loved it!) but it doesn't run in Win7 - and what I especially liked was that the game had some pretty nice Greek voices for the worms. I suppose you do include the Greek language pack (since it's also included in the Worms games on the PSP), but I thought I'd ask just to be on the safe side.
As for the avatar, glad that you liked it - had another one until about a week ago, and changed it precisely in anticipation of this release! :-)
Welcome to go nice to see a developer here and no worries about time better to have it fixed than released and moaned at afterwords.
Aw, such a shame. I was hoping to play it today. Good thing you are not releasing it broken. Also I think it will run fine on older systems as long as you put the resolution down. I mean it's a 2D game after all.
