There was some actual thought behind my suggestion. You could easily change worms into maggots, say a few hundred hours of work, so you could still do that at this late stage. I feel the taking turns is essential to the games.
Their job is to be slightly creative.

It looks similar to Teeworlds, except in 3D and not free.

What's with all the desire for 3D worms? What does adding 3D bring? It only seems like it'd complicate the game without benefit. Why not just jump to an FPS at that point?
This trailer linked a few posts above... It's still a 2d game. It's just rendered in a 3d engine with a 3d environment; all gameplay still happens 2d. This has become quite standard because it's usually cheaper to do than actual full 2d game w/sprites games.

I'm sorry, are you honestly excited for this game ?
I don't say I consider myself fan of the licence as I only played Worms 1, 2, Armaggedon, World Party, 3D and Mayhem, but I really like Worms.
This ... thing ? I don't wanna hear about it. It just uses the brand Worms. Good for Team 17 if they make any money out of it. It won't be mine for sure, even on Gog.

I just looked up random videos of Worms 3D and see that, yes, it was actually 3D. That seems terrible, and looks like it wasn't very good from the little bit I saw. Some games transitioned to 3D well (Zelda, Metroid). Others did not (Mario) [to use Nintendo games].

The 3rd dimension adds a lot of variety to movement on the map and aiming/wind calculations. Worms 4: Mayhem did it right and a lot of fans who enjoyed that one was hoping for a fresh Worms title in full 3D. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen yet with this abomination coming around.

Team17 hasn't known what to do with Worms since Andy Davidson's first departure after Armageddon shipped.
This is worse than Worms Blast.

Having looked at the forum for the game there, I still see people raising issues with it. I assume the same issues are present in both builds, but wouldn't be surprised to find the Steam build did get some fixes while the GOG build either never did or is in limbo until it's approved.

Still better than constantly recycling the same thing over and over. Any of the new 2D Worms games trying to return to the glory of Armageddon are pretty much pointless as you can just go play Armageddon/World Party which on top of having been here for a long time, still look better visually than any of the new games (in my opinion at least).
Worms 3D was the first foray into full 3D and it was not that bad. I still enjoyed it a lot.
Forts was an attempt for a unique spin with buildings and it worked out pretty well.
Worms 4: Mayhem reached the pinnacle of what was possible back then.
After all these years, there was definitely space for a new full 3D worms game. But instead we get another 2D game in 3D space, which doesn't even play like Worms

Yes, it wasn't that bad. Compared to a 5 year old game it was quite slow. I didn't wanted to play local multiplayer on both 3D and Mayhem, too slow, too buggy, too laggy on consoles. A shame. This one ... I'll wait before bashing it.
