gibbeynator: OK, but would GOG/Bethesda sell Doom 3 without the expansion? I'm gonna go with "still banned in Germany" for why it's not here.
They sell a lot of games here that are indexed (not banned) in germany.

paladin181: Did Bethsoft/id have a hand in the release of Bioshock?
Not to my knowledge. I think people are just unloading hope for other "original" versions because GOG dumped the "Original versions coming soon" line into the BioShock release announcement.

Based on subsequent staff replies, even those don't seem 100% guaranteed so I don't see why people are using that news as the herald for other missing originals (Doom 3, Darksiders 2, the list goes on I'm sure).

And that leads to the biggest issue I had with the BFG edition: Due to RoE being on the German Index, they cut the coolest part of that expansion: There's a level where you wade through toxic waste while wearing a hazmat suit. This suit runs out of air after a short time, so you have to kill hazmat suit wearing zombies who drop air canisters when they die. This part of the game was explicitly mentioned by the German authorities for indexing the expansion (because not only do you kill zombies, you're rewarded for doing so). Unfortunately, this led to the entire scene getting emasculated internationally for the BFG Edition (they removed the suit, the sludge is no longer toxic and the zombies no longer drop canisters). It's a shame, because that level was so cool and atmospheric - the muffled sounds inside your suit had a lot to do with it - I'd spend a couple of bucks just so I can play RoE as it was intended.
