My witcher 3 retail copy will not install from DVD at all. Just freezes at 2min left does not create install game folders or anything.
Have anyone had this problem?
Anyone?

Goodoldgamer55: Anyone?
Contact the support (see bar above).
Know, however, that it's currently flooded due to the release.
i have the same problem,WTF?
Yeah im pissed off since the reason i bught the retail editon was that i did not want to download the game since my connection is only 8mbit.

it was a pre order edition. But this is strange it is the first time I have experienced a problem like this. I even tried to update the firmware on my blu ray player...

Try asking in the game's forum and find out.

SETUP_T2.BIN to SETUP_TH-2.BIN

Retail installation worked fine for me, it just took really F'in long -- Took about an hour total.

My guess is, it was a combination of slow drive speed, tons of data, and file compression.

Unless there's something wrong with your disk or PC, you probably just need to be patient.

( And yes, the game works fine for me now. )

I did try to copy the content on the disk over to my HDD, however i did not rename the files on the disks.

Got a response from GOG support they started to nag about a faulty nvidia drivers and so on. So i did a driver clean with DDU (Display driver Unstaller) in safe boot before installing the official witcher 3 drivers from nvidia. Thought it cold not hurt.

They also wanted me to do a system restore In Windows 8 I did not see the point since my computer dont have any problems installing any games or software from disc.

CharlesGrey: I know things take time (installed GTAIV from DVD disks some weeks ago) but when the installer dont do anything and does not even create a Witcher 3 install folder you know something is really wrong.

But all is good now I have downloaded the game and it is running smooth 60fps on ultra at 2560x1600.
Your dvds were damaged by the packaging. I had the same problem (I.e.,the "2-minutes left" message that hangs forever). You can avoid downloading by copying the files to a new folder, renaming the BIN files as described in this thread, and running the Setup executable file.

If the installer can't read the files due to physical damage to the discs, then you can't copy the files elsewhere either. Conversely, if you can copy the files elsewhere, then the installer can read them too. Your stated problem and solution do not make sense together.
The other possibility (besides disk damage) is that Witcher's setup program has a bug that rears its head when installing to a drive other than C:. Either way, the solution is as described above.

Yes, you are absolutely correct and I realized that as soon as I posted. The defective dvd hypothesis is out there, but I would be interested to know if the problem only occurs when installing to another drive.

Try asking in the W3 subforum. There maybe people who can answer you question better.
