In case if finding the information becomes needed again, the methods are not very straight forward.
The first option is checking the product in the new version of the price tracking site Is There Any Deal, e.g.
the base version of the Witcher 3. If the product is on sale on GOG, it usually shows the sale's ID in the ITAD page. Type in the address bar "gog.com/promo/" (without quotation marks) and the sale ID at the end (e.g. "gog.com/promo/gog_13th_birthday" without quotation marks). Then check the countdown in the page.
The other option is to check the forum posts
weekly and weekend sales and
sales that have a stand-alone page, then check which sale has the product you want and how long the sale will stay up.
The last option I know of is digging GOG's news posts and the front page of the site, but this could prove to be quite an effort.
On a side note, GOG could use a countdown in the products' pages like Steam does.
