foxgog: One feature of such classic arcadey games that I learned to appreciate more and more, is how quick you are right in the game--no unnecessary long and slow introductory sequence, story or tutorial. Everything is centered around tight gameplay.
. [...]

However, level of difficulty can be another concern.
Yeah, the classics from the arcades basically centered around two things:

1) ease of accessibility - so everone and their auntie could play them, and
2) a challenging (sometimes even unfair) gameplay - so that the flow of quarters never stopped.

The first point was, what made these arcade games so successful in the first place, the second point was, what made the homecomputers/consoles so successful. Now you could play your favourites (or derivates thereof) without investing all your allowance.

I sometimes miss that ease of accessibility in today's games.
The old challenges, though?...well, let's just say: my reflexes aren't exactly what they have been four decades ago. ;)
So next year we actually get the Winter Games classics? Or even the remake which was shipped with Speedlink joysticks?

How about the free ORF Ski Challenge 2011?
Nowadays only a tablet version is available, but i kept my Windows backup copy, it's still fun.
