It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

It's Windows, that's what it does best...

Mr.Caine: Well it's new Windows,so assume new problems by default.

dick1982: this is what i always assumed. but then again the move from Win8 to Win10 was much greater.
for now it does seem to be mostly an anoying UI downgrade and an added requirement for newer SSD/HDD(Secure Boot capable) and a webcam.

but the webcam part seems to be just for laptops and every laptop i've seen in recent years have got one that's good enough.
www.windowscentral.com/starting-2023-windows-11-will-require-laptops-have-cameras

Have a resolution of High-Definition (HD) or better

Auto Exposure (AE)

Auto White Balance (AWB)

Win 8, and 8.1 were both a major downgrade from 7, not as bad as vista (which has cropped up again in my life and it really is awful), but not a patch on win 7. Win 10 is also far better than 8.x. I actually reverted my 8.1 machine to win 7 after a few months of using it, and my main machine never changed from 10 when I got it.

I call bullshit on everything you said, then. At best, Windows 11 is still in beta version. The taskbar is broken every now and then with every new build, a lot of the new features (like running those worthless Android apps) are nowhere to be seen and the are a sea of bugs still to be fixed.

I would say that windows 11 will likely not cause any problems, most if not all programs that work on windows 10 will work on windows 11

JMayer70: Hi

Just fishing for opinions here, will Windows 11 cause some GOG titles, espeically the older titles, to have problems until GOG get around to re-tooling everything to work with W11? Or do you think there will be little or no issues?

Thanks!
That's going to depend heavily on the games in question.

If the game you want to play has a source port, then it won't matter what OS you use, because the makers of the source port will just port their source port to Windows 11.

VBProject: Win11 is no more mobile than Win10 already.

KingofGnG: You should keep up with the actual news about Windows, not just rumors/arguments/forums.

Almost everything Microsoft has been said about Windows 11 is about "optimizing" this and that for mobile or other form factor consumption. Everything EXCEPT a fucking functioning and totally customizable PC operating system...

They even fucked up the Contextual Menu of the graphics shell (File Explorer). The fucking contextual menu...
Thanks for the link.

[…] the paths taken by Microsoft to always fuck with its users are infinite and here comes the requirement for an Internet connection and a Microsoft account to install the Home edition of Windows 11. Redmond has tried several times in the past to enforce this stupid need for remote server to set the PC up, and this time it seems the corporation is willing to go all the way. […]
And it's "good night" from him.

I will not buy this "personal" OS on principle. (Even if the option is still available in Windoze 11 Pro. I doubt it will be.) I guess I should thank them for finally forcing me to jump to Linux.

I call BS on your deductions.
Win10 is too in beta for 6 years already so no wonder that 11 is doing a better job.
Taskbar works fine. Less bugs than 10 2004 especially in Windows Explorer.
Take with as many grains of salt as you prefer.

I asked that some time ago and people WERE BEING RUDE AND DOWNRATED me for ASKING THAT and ACCUSED me of RAISING panic.

Interesting, although I don't tend to play higher end games on my laptop, so it's not likely to impact me.

Again, I'll reserve judgement until a release candidate has been out for 6 months and had bug fixes applied. Then I'll probably upgrade my desktop to Windows 11 and see how it goes, but fundamentally, I'm not expecting a material difference from Windows 10.
11 should be out today... perhaps you noticed Facebook crashing as skynet took over ;)

anyway yes Windows 11 is forcing Virtual environments by default so there will not be any advantage to running actual hardware instead of inside a host & Windows 10 users will also start to see more older software getting blocked from using runtime files as a way to force upgrades of exe files... which of course wants W11 soon i.e, gamers on old systems can get fucked basically but old games should run under W11 (using extra Ram and Cpu which is not always a bad thing)

I saw the articles on that. My understanding is that those settings will be pre-configured to be "on" in new, OEM machines (i.e. pre-built laptops and possibly desktops). If you've built your own machine or are upgrading an existing PC to Windows 11, those setting won't be activated by default. It's also possible to change the settings, but as it's not really been seen in the wild yet, it's hard to tell how difficult it will be to do.

Anyway, it looks like it started rolling out yesterday in NZ, so with the official release today, we should start to get real world information (and faster bug reports and fixes)

It is brand new so problems are to be expected but some of them look like they ran out of time.
Had my desktop do the upgrade yesterday.
Not much difference. Rather anti-climactic, really. But I guess that's a good thing.

Rounded corners and a reskinned start menu (that can still be left justified, as Bill intended!).

Oh, and WSL2 now supports GUI applications out of the box. Unfortunately, the windows integrate very poorly into the rest of the desktop. VcXsrv works a heck of a lot better.

Android support nowhere to be found.

The best change appears to be a prettier Settings app.

Apart from that, everything, including various development systems and games, seems to work the same as before.
