2 question So:

1. I am about to purchase new computer with Windows 10. Will got games play on Windows 10.

2. Also I see some people mentioning that Windows 10 UPDATES MAY "BREAK" SOME GAMES...(assume this means they won't play after update). Is this a problem with update process or with Windows 10 in general?

Thanks

That should be GOG games, not 'got' games

UPDATE: thank you to everyone who responded. Overall sentiment indicates 10 will fine for my games. I checked some of my games on GOG and they all seem to be 10 compatible. thanks for that tip. Will also look at the directx recommendation. Again, thanks to all.

If you have to get a windows system, try to get it with Windows 7, not 8, or 8.1 or 10. If you can stand the idea of reformatting and reinstalling windows 7 on it, I'd go with that instead.

Most games from here will run. On the product page, it will tell you what operating systems are supported, you can use that as your guide. If it doesn't say win 10 supported, it might still work, but you may need to fiddle around, and you may not get support.

Yes, win 10 has been known to bring issues, but this is the os, not Gog.

I've used Windows 10 for months now and I haven't had any problems. Also none of the updates have "broken" any games. I play Fallout: New Vegas, which has a system requirement of Windows 7/Vista/XP, without any problems. That's not to say you won't any issues, I'm just saying I haven't.
I am a sad man with to many games... but i have had zero issues in 10, had it since pre-release.

If anything I've found it to be more stable and able to run more games with less "under the hood" tweaking. General rules apply to older titles that dont work with dual monitors, dx9 or earlier, old open GL, direct draw or glide games.

and anything tagged as 16bit is a no-go for me without emulation, but thats been the case since 7 so meh!

Everyone bashes windows 10 for not working with a lot of games which I find not true at all, I got games to work with 10 that did not work with 7 or 8 like starcraft and diablo without the new patches, and other games like recoil work on 10 and did not for 7.

when you get 10 enjoy the speed and download legacy components in the control panel un install programs area.
And download directx pack to give you the older versions for games as well.

that gave me the ability to play diablo 2 and recoil without problems.

Emulators work great on 10 like fusion and snes9x something whatever it's called and nestopia
for fusion you have to do compatibility and disable high dpi scale for it to go fullscreen.
Remember only download if you have the games ;)

Windows 10 actually has great backwards compatibility, much better than previous version of Windows. I would pick it over 7 or 8 for sure. That said you might have issues with disc based games that have DRM. Windows 10 is known to stop those games from installing as their a security threat.

All GOG games marked as Windows 10 compatible should run fine however. GOG just has a statement about updates to save their own ass... because it is possible that a future update could break something. But I wouldn't worry about it.
