LanceMitchell: Will the older SSI games play on tablets that operate on non-Windows OS? I have an Android tablet and was just wondering whether I might be able to play those games on it.
If you can get DOSBox running and have a physical keyboard with a number pad, I would expect the games to be playable.
If you only have a virtual keyboard, the games will likely be playable, but awkward; also, I believe the games do expect the number pad to be available.
Note that this information is generally true for the Gold Box games; the ones that play in realtime (Eye of the Beholder and Dungeon Hack, for example) are designed for mouse input, so they might be playable with a touchscreen (your tablet *does* have a touchscreen, right?), though I am not sure if there are any issues you might run into (provided you have a virtual keyboard for things like naming your characters and saves). Alternatively, you could try using an external mouse (if possible on your tablet), but that limits where you can play the game and means having to carry an extra object around.
I haven't actually tried this, however.
