there are games on Steam with the Galaxi.api and librarys as well. it is clear that OP has hit a bug, and need to contact support, but inert api's are not a problem at all, even though they have steam in the name

Ancient-Red-Dragon: Well no, actually I'd expect GOG games never to pop-up any messages whatsoever about Steam.
There is no pop-up message. One would never see this message unless starting the game from the terminal and not using the more conventional way of clicking on the icon / using a menu to launch it. When using the terminal, the game prints many other diagnostic messages to the console, but this is how many linux programs behave.

Lokystaz: SteamAPI_InitSafe() failed
Steam_Init
SteamInit failed: Steam must be running to play this game (SteamAPI_InitSafe() failed)

as it is say: Steam must be running to play this game

igrok: No it must not. The error message simply says the game can't find steam api library (which is what you would expect from a GOG version of the game). That's fine because the game plays without steam just fine. I've just checked it and it throws the same message in the log for me and proceeds to start the game normally. If the game doesn't work for you then this is definitely nothing to do with this message. Have you check the system requirements on the game store page? Most likely if you are running a 64 bit installation, you are missing some of the 32 bit libraries needed to run the game. An easy way to check this is to use the ldd command on the game's executable file.
OK Thanks, I checked with other game and some gave me the same error but still start !! So you are right, my bad ^^
I do have all the required packages and there dependencies. (of course)

Ok I will have to check elsewhere I guess..
Like the error I didn't see before:
./HyperLightDrifter.x86: libcurl.so.4: no version information available (required by ./HyperLightDrifter.x86)

Yeah, game packaging can be a mess when it comes to missing libraries. You may want to check this thread
