kazam401: Looked at the "more" drop down & downloading from a link which seems to be working for the moment. Why is this hidden away on the GOG site? It seems like they want to make it hard work for people new to the site.
The fun thing: quite the opposite is the case. They are trying to make it as easy as possible to new users. It's one reason they invented GOG-Galaxy. GOG's philosophy is "one click-download-play". Of course they assume that they don't have any network errors or similar problems - they also assume that Galaxy is working without any problems which seems to be the case for most of the people who are using it. But no, they did not hide those old classic installers to make it harder for newcomers, they hid them because they think that it would be easier for newcomers to use Galaxy or have Galaxy included in their installers.
GOG Downloader used to have decent speed; too bad it's been discontinued now... Well, we have the client forced on us; currently, it is the most reliable thing to download game files from...

Downloader still works, and the links are available under the More tab.

Thanks. I was under the impression that gog downloader no longer worked and i keep Galaxy mostly for downloading games. Now i will uninstall Galaxy and good riddance. At first, i was appreciative of it (since you have total control over features like update, cloud, tracking etc), but it eats away too many system resources and my machine overheats+shuts down. Thanks again.

No problem. Not only is it still working, but it's also still available on the site. On the phone now but I can link it later if you want me to. Or someone else will beat me to it.

mechmouse: I've been using Galaxy since it was available, never had any issues downloading. The biggest broblem was when it used to download the entire game to patch, but that long been fixed (mostly).
It still does this most of the time. Try to update your game with a 100mb patch and it will download the whole game or a huge 4gb update. It's about time they fix this if they are going to keep pushing Galaxy by hiding the other options to download behind other links.

Seems pretty silly to have a problem and come to the ultimatum that makes you declare you will never buy from this company again. Imagine if everyone judged you by a single problem then just threw you away.

I am surprised anyone helped you considering how little your brain ......i mean how little patients you have. J/K No one has every hid anything on this site. No client has ever been needed, the DL has always been in the same spot, Galaxy or not.

Next time don't spout out your uneducated summary, just simply ask for some help nicely. There are plenty of patient people more than willing to help, especially if you don't crap on a service that the people you are asking help from, just happen to like.

95% of the time, it's user error.

"I feel like they have stolen my money because I cannot download what I have paid for & there is nothing wrong on my side.It is a complete joke."

So since they didn't steal from you, there is no joke, and you CAN download, the next respectful step would be to apologize for being so quick to judge. But that only applies if you believe in cleaning up the messes you make.

You are not completely wrong with what you are saying. But please keep in mind that the user is new to GOG and probably just felt frustrated the moment he posted. We all know here that GOG makes mistakes (yes, they do) and we all know how awesome this community is and that the community might probably help everybody here if they can. So if the user would have known this before he might have asked a bit nicer - but again: he was probably frustrated and maybe he thought that this would be one of those stores where nobody cares. Sometimes when people are angry they just want to tell everybody what's on their mind and sometimes it's not very nice what they say and in hindsight they also might regret it. Again: I don't say that you are wrong but I also say that we all are human here and sometimes we just rant because we feel that way - be it fair or not. I would say that next time if the user is having a problem he probably might remember how the community reacted and he probably will ask the community before getting too angry about it in the first place. Don't judge too hard here we all were new to GOG once :)

Yes I do apologise for my rather rash comments but there is no hiding the fact that for a newbie GOG is NOT easy to get your head round & you shouldn't really have the need to log into a forum just to find out how to download what you have bought.

Shouldn't we decide on a safe-word first?

Well, like I said before. If everything would have worked correctly you should not have any problems using Galaxy either. Unfortunately since Galaxy still is in development sometimes they might have some issues with it but they are temporary and of course not intended. Normally with the method chosen at first you should also have reached your goal. I also said that GOG did made mistakes in the past and not everything is working at all times but you could say the same thing about steam and any other digital store for that matter. The one thing GOG actually has and imo is pretty unique is an awesome community and they will always help you if they can. If you are interested to see if what I told you is true try to download the game at another time with the method you first used. I am quite sure the unintended problem will go away - maybe it was just a server issue.

We just learned that Galaxy is not that safe so I probably will have to change my usual safe-word ;)
