Unfortunately, it's still buggy now in April 2025. I'm really annoyed with it. It seems they don't care one bit about it. I have reported over 10 issues to them.

The biggest issue I have with it is that it crashes when trying to sync games. It happens about 40% of the time.
I don't want to disable sync so that's not a good solution. It does work the next time. But, sometimes it crashes when launching a game, rare but it happens.

Steam has 0 issues. Epic Games, EA App, and Ubisoft Connect as well.
This issue is only happening with GOG Galaxy so not all launchers are bad, just this one.

It seems they do not know how to fix. Their latest update fixes a small thing for Mac and I use Windows. No crash fixes.

I think the problem is that all of their staff and dev teams were cut because CDPR was losing money after the shakeup from Cyberpunk 2077. with these staffing cuts, there is less room for development and this is the result. I also have the same issue and I think that this needs to be rectified ASAP

Personally never had an issue with it. Works fine as a glorified download manager. Using it purely out of laziness, but still have my installers backed up.

CDP doesn't invest any resources into developing anymore under 'R&D' and has this listed on their annual reports since Q4 2023. It's been on barebones maintenance since. Maybe even longer before that. It was originally bloated and still is due to neglect and poor upper management decisions.

if this is indeed true, I believe it. because the offline installer wasn't available for Cyperpunk 2077 for macOS at launch, I had to deal with GOG Galaxy shenanigans and after wrestling with it, it finally installed.

What I can't forgive is it decides it must launch itself on login and you can't even get into the settings to disable it because it fails to connect with its "communication service" (what I wrestled with before)

I gave this app the benefit of the doubt and it is going right into the trash (along with system level launch agents and daemons!)

I totally believe in their DRM-free mission so if this is indeed their focus, there is no "real" need to maintain their store - so I get it. but it's good to hear other people have issues with this app too.

Galaxy as an updater for your offline installers (installed) and as a place for the cloudsaves works for me, and you can always can choose to bypass galaxy outside those moments. There are not a lot of programs that offer that kind of functionality

There's a solution but I don't use it because I can just use heroic. I don't really see a need to use galaxy. I don't really see a need to use heroic either unless I'm just super lazy on occasion .
