About two hours ago, some user (not me) called "ManyGamers" posted in the "Hellish Quart" release thread the following sentence:
"I would like to formally request that this game be removed from the store".

As far as I can see, there was nothing wrong with this post. It might have been a subtle satire of some recent event, which as far as I know is allowed here, or it might have been a genuinely loyal member of the Metric regime understandably venting his or her ire at the release of a game with an Imperial title.

Still, shortly thereafter the post mysteriously disappeared. You can still see its traces because someone was quick enough to quote it (see attached image).

Can someone please explain to me why the post has disappeared?

Maybe a bunch of lurkers downvoted and reported it as spam, which may result in the post getting auto-removed when the number of reports hits a certain threshold?

I don't think so honestly, anything remotely criticizing gog get's upvoted atm.
Probably because it was offtopic trolling.

Note: I am not defending GOG in general; but I don't see anything wrong with them removing offtopic troll posts from the thread of a dev's game who has nothing to do with any controversy that GOG brought upon themselves.

That dev isn't to blame for anything that GOG did wrong, so why should that dev suffer via having the thread dedicated to promoting their game on GOG be hijacked by offtopic troll posts that are completely irrelevant to them and their game?

Making something sticky on the forum, at least for me, is like making it invisible. I haven't looked at a sticky thread in years. Are you referring to something specific? Could you post a link?

I don't see anything offtopic in the post.

I have asked many times for Gwent to be removed from the store without my posts being deleted.

Maybe it's a new feature where we have to log into the optional Galaxy client to see the post.

Let's be real, Hellish Quart has nothing to do with Devotion. I'm on Ancient-Red-Dragon's side here. There are certain topics for such discussion - Hellish Quart announcement thread is not one of them. And the post was nothing more than trolling.

I agree. Let's be real. There are thousands of off-topic posts all across this forum. Nobody is going out of its way to delete them all.

To be honest, I think bombing the announcement and release threads for new games is a terrible idea and very disrespectful
towards the developers, especially new ones who might be struggling to get their games published. The developers deserve their spotlight and don't have to pay the price for the Devotion debacle. There are a dozen other threads to speak up about the issue. Or just open a new one.

I don't think the report button autodeletes posts anymore. If that were the case, the black magic, my favorite MOBA and buy English language certificates posts wouldn't last a minute.

Depends. If they posted it only in this one thread, it's funny and probably not a problem. If they posted it in every release thread (which isn't unlikely), it's spam and should be deleted.

I checked all of yesterday's and today's release threads and I don't seem to see any deleted posts in any of them.

Indeed, let's be real alright: if you were a dev who spent a long time making a game and also spent a lot of money in creating it, would you be okay with trolls spamming up your only dedicated thread for your game on the storefront where you are selling it, with offtopic posts that have zero relevance to your game, and which hijack the discussion there, so that has it has nothing at all to do with your game?

Even if you reply and say yes you would, the reality is, no, you wouldn't...not if you were really in that situation in real-life.

I'd hardly call one post "bombing". But that's the forum these days: the only joke allowed is the moderation.

If I were a dev who spent a long time making a game and also spent a lot of money in creating it I'd be more concerned about the precedent set by the Devotion incident and what it might mean for me and others like me down the line than people making jokes in a thread about my game.

Had GOG not deleted the trolling post, then there would have been a lot more than 'one post.'

In that case, that thread would have been full to overflowing with similar troll posts, that pile on after the first one, since the first set the precedent that trolling that thread is fine & dandy.

The only reason that didn't happen is because GOG deleted the initial trolling post before things got way out of hand. So they actually did a good thing there. And I'm not happy that I have to defend GOG, because I really don't want to, as I'm outraged by their recent actions just like everyone else.

But the premise of this thread is so ridiculous that it's forcing me into the position of defending GOG even though I don't want to.
