I lease Witcher 3, Witcher 3 HS and Witcher 3 B&W on Steam. I have had them for years. I wanted them on GOG so bad, but it didn't seem right to buy a game i already own, even if it's as good as W3. When i heard it's being given away, i jumped out of excitement. But now it turns out i need to have the GOTY version to receive W3 plus the expansions here. WTF? Shouldn't they reward players who bought the game as soon as possible and didn't wait for GOTY? In Poland, we have a saying "Darowanemu koniowi w zęby się nie zagląda" (don't examine the teeth of a horse you've been gifted) meaning don't complain when you receive something for free. So while i am happy i have W3 on both platforms, i still can't help but be disappointed that i don't receive GOTY.

They are each considered separate items which is why there is the problem, ie goty is separate for the components. Would be more tricky to check I suppose.
Anyways, why do you need a GOG version if your already happy with the steam version your brought? Considering it was released here at the same time as steam you took the decision to buy there...

Yes, i know that. Otherwise i wouldn't be asking? I don't get the point of your comment
Back when GoG Connect was first announced, there was an issue with the way your games are exported, so that GoG was not able to see the DLC.
I assume that this is still the case, so Galaxy can only see that you have the base game, and not that you also have the DLC.

And, similar to GoG, the GotY version of Witcher 3 seems to be a separated entry in the Steam library. I can't confirm this though, but that is the only explanation that makes sense.

Hold on, I owned a copy of Witcher 3 GOTY edition on Steam & a copy of Witcher 3 standard on GOG, but somehow I still can't claim Witcher 3 GOTY edition on GOG. Please help.

Best is to contact customer support, I bought my copy of the game here on GOG so I can't really help since I am not experiencing the issue.

I didn't have a GOG account at that time, actually i didn't even learn of GOG's existence until Gwent (it's on Steam now, but it used to be GOG exclusive. No offence, but you didn't bother to look at under my nickname?

And i didn't really buy them, my brother gifted them to me and he to this day only has a Steam account.

I wanted GOG copies because i want to only use Steam for games that GOG doesn't have. I am copletely anti-DRM now.
low rated
Thank you for pointing this out. It's unfair for us to not get GoY, we paid for it. I won't play on GoG unless this is fixed.

"Unfair" Since other users with the GOTY on other platforms but Steam can get a GOTY on GOG, yeah it is a little.

"We paid for it" On the other platform you did, yeah. Don't confuse this gift as an entitlement though.
Once again, the problem appears to be with Steam not properly posting DLCs in a way that can be read and processed. GOG can only do so much, and they're limited by what Valve and Herr Newell deigns to allow.

Mmm, maybe. But from what you posted it sounded like you paid the big cash on day one to support cdproject, when in fact you have never paid anything for any part of Witcher 3. The value of a steam copy is far less than a gog copy, as you say you are only renting it. All in all it’s probably a good idea to pick up a gog copy, it is on sale (in fact there is a Witcher bundle with all the games for next to nothing =£20) most of the time.
