Argh... why!?!?!

More of a rant than a discussion, but does anyone else look through GoG.com seeing a game they think they already own and then unhappily sees it in Steam?

Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall are both on Steam, now do I buy Hong Kong via GoG.com and have my games split or do I keep everything in one place? Decisions.
Haven't touched my Steam account in months so no, not really.

I've gladly bought games I had on Steam here just so I don't have to deal with the DRM since there have been multiple times where steam DRM has prevented me from playing games I legally owned (or subscribed to if using the Steam EULA since you don't actually own games on Steam). Or had to re-input settings when Steam decides to revert the game to it's default setting for no good reason.

I have Returns on Steam and Dragonfall here. A big part of it is sales though.
I've been waiting for a Towerfall sale for quite a while as I need a new local co-op game.
It'll probably be on sale on Steam far sooner.

Definitely sales, GreenManGaming gets me very often, with their 25% coupons...
If it bugs you that much re-buy them. Or just be patient and wait for one or the other to get it.
I stopped buying on Steam since August 2013, when I discovered another service that could provide me with more games than I could ever play without imposing me a business model I despise from the bottom of my heart, so my answer is obvious.

I don't understand a thing, though (notice that I'm not saying this to sound sarcastic, I'm really interested in the answer): I see many people complaining that their collection is split, that they want to keep all their games in one place and so on, but... supposing they have no problem with the distribution platforms like I have, where's the problem? The only thing that separates them is a click! It's not like having a game in an apartment and one in another... jumping from the Steam client to your download folders requires a fraction of second. That's why I really don't understand who perceives that as an issue.
I keep track of GOG's new releases, so I generally have a good idea of whether a game I see on Steam is available on GOG.

Also, it's rare nowadays that quality indie games are released on Steam only. The vast bulk of Steam-only titles are either AAA titles from the major publishers or shovelware crap.

And seeing as AAA titles are a comparative rarity on PC nowadays (2-3 a month at most?), you can generally assume that if a game is worth having on PC, there's a 90-95% likelihood that it will be on GOG (or itch.io if it's a very low-rent indie game).

FabMan: Why do I buy games on Steam when they are on GoG.com?
As mentioned by the others above: Because usually they're cheaper/more often on sale.
This is why I'm glad I never got into the whole steam thing
I'd rather buy games than rent them. Sooner or later most of those games will come to GoG anyway and even if not, I don't think loss will be on my side ; )
I don't use steam .

Towerfall Ascension is on sale at 70% off on Humble at the moment, assuming that's the game you mean...
I buy on both. Don't see what the problem is.

Me too.

I buy on neither. Don't see what the problem is.

I can understand wanting everything in one place. I almost bought Sorcery! 3 from Google Play not realising I already have it on the Amazon app store (I have parts 1 and 2 from Humble). Still, I deal with this, and have always enjoyed having things in multiple places.
