I apoligize for my ignorance if this has been discussed before or if there is a reason why we cannot attach higher resolution images, but why can we not upload images higher than 2MB?

I run a 1080p resolution monitor and sadly I cannot attach any images that are that much in resolution.

Is their reason for this? Did something happened in the forums that needed to scale down image size? Or is it like this since GOG's inception?

Well thats not really a nice and informative thing to say, but oh well :P
It's actually worse than that, the limit is 500KB per image
They probably want to limit the db growth.
Also, less problems about uploaded content.

Yeah, i`m agree with you, but there are two problems: like printed Crosmando the forum really shitty and the second problem is the money for saving all your 2mb+ pictures. But i hope that GOG stuff will solve this problem... Somewhere, sometime... in the far-far galaxy, but will. ;)
How big are the images you want to upload?
My 1080p screen shots are all less than 500kb

And I cannot upload it.

It's true though.
If you want to get a bit more in depth I suppose it's because they decided that in-post images were evil so you can only attach files to your post which then have to be stored on their servers.

First, why would we want to see your desktop?

Second, that doesn't matter. Open your image file in GIMP (you're not using Paint, are you? It's the same step if you are, but you're missing out on a solid free program) and save it at a lower quality.
Must be a remnant from the Good Old Games time. The sky is the limit, as long as it fits in a 3½-inch HD floppy disk.

Thanks for the heads up on GIMP, had not heard of it before. I've often been frustrated trying to upload images here but couldn't because of size.
If it's a .png or something, save it as a jpeg with http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm
