Stickies give me -ickies!
They build up, and then the staff when they notice, powerwash them away. Which stickies do you think aren't worth being up anymore?
Stickies are generally for important threads ... rules, directions, general help, guides, useful news, alerts, etc.

Well... I'm also of the opinion that there are way too many stickies and a lot are also not relevant anymore.

- Digimon World vote removals? - I'm not sure if that was even worth being a sticky but so much time has passed, why is it still stickied?
- Email about cloud saves - I mean come on, who has not seen this email yet, this is months old
- Local prices updates - would be important if anything was actually posted there. The last update from gog there was in September 2023
- Fallout 4 NextGen update - does anyone still belive it is coming?

So that you step on them and the demo will blow you up.

Yes that is a reference to Team Fortress 2, how did you know?

.erercott: why are there so many stickies?
Good question.
"moonshineshadow" mentiones a few that could easily get un-stickied.
I have the same question regarding stickies. Probably because I'm really bad at forums. Anyway, let them be.

I'm "sticking" to what timppu said. They're land mines at this point.
The "Local Prices Update" thread really should've been unpinned a year or more ago.
Could there be made one stickied thread for archiving?
Add links to old or not-so-relevant threads to that one and remove the stickied status from them.
Then only stick on "Archived stickies".

If people somehow claim sticky-blindness now, you can be sure they won't check there to see what else they should be checking if it changed...
That's a good question. We should sticky it.

For a long time, there was a topic kinda like that for some niche or less-important topics. It only occasionally got updated, then wound up languishing for years with no updates (a lot of the linked topics within having become either irrelevant or woefully out of date). It was finally un-stickied at some point after more active moderation of the forums began some years ago and the CM actually started to use the "sticky post" section as something other than "the never-changing list where topics are sent to be unintentionally ignored and die." I'm not sure any staff-maintained one would work out any better if they tried it again.
Besides, there is already user solar_dome's running list of GOG's newsposts and staff-created forum topics (itself a stickied topic), which should allow one to find most of the formerly-pinned (blue-created) threads from the last few years, even if one has to sift through a ton of newsposts to do so.

Searching for "staff" (without quotes) within my thread using the official search function will filter for that word.
Helpful narrowing down of posts.

Another forum search tip I read about from someone:
To find all staff posts within any thread, append "?staff=yes" (without quotes) to the end of the URL.

Yeah, that's the same effect as when you click the silver starburst/"cog" after the name of a topic (within any main "topic list" page) that's had staff replies. :)
