Ive noticed that there are some games in the store that when I try to click on them, I am redirected back to the store and am unable to see the game in question, let alone attempt to purchase.

This happened with Metal Gear Solid 2 (before delisting) and now Dying Light. I can understand MGS2 because its a Konami game and Konami does not want Japanese players purchasing their games on PC but Dying Light is produced by Techland.

Could anyone give me some advice or insight regarding this issue? I raised this to GOG support but never got an answer on the issue and I dont think contacting again when they are using a bot will help (this likely isnt a high priority issue to them)

Maybe its like the regional stupidity that goes on with Germany ..For reference games that shouldn't be region locked in Germany are still region locked on Gog I hear ..

Why some games are regionally locked? I don't know, politics maybe and publisher's special approach like that you mentioned in case with Konami.

Here are some links where you can check what games are locked for Japan:
https://gitlab.com/szyundnsnw/banned-gog-products/-/blob/main/list.csv (lookup JP, first entry would 1130058451)

Thank you. I was asking more is Dying Light region-locked as opposed to why but your links answered the question. Yeah I saw that Dying Light is also "region-locked" in Japan and not sure why, as well as Horizon Zero Dawn, Mad Max, and Dragon's Dogma (great games). These are PS4 games so I wonder if Sony is putting pressure on GOG to not release them in Japan.

In the case of HZD, according to https://www.gog.com/forum/horizon_zero_dawn_complete_edition/theres_a_hidden_japanese_version there's a separate version for Japan.

Edit: it looks from one of the links Cadaver747 posted as though the same's true of Mad Max.

Cool. Interesting to see that the changes are due to the button layout and Japanese voice acting. It is a big issue in Japan (circle is confirm and cross is cancel) so the PS5 shift to making everything cross is confirm and circle is cancel screws Japanese players over (and was one of the reasons I decided to shift to PC). Now that many games use R1 and R2 to attack though, the impact may not be as severe (although square enix action RPGs use the circle to attack so still a big issue there)

Tokyo_Bunny_8990: Dying Light.
You can try buying the Platinum Edition using a newsletter discount code. The e-mail only mentioned it's unavailable in Germany. According to the above spreadsheet, its also region-locked in Japan, so that may have been an oversight.

Thanks. The discount is already over but when it was still active, I tried connecting through the discount code link and got and error and could never see the game, let alone the price with the discount. Happened before with the Metal Gear code as well.
