Hi all. In the past couple of days I have gotten two emails about a password reset request that I haven't made myself. Does this mean someone is trying to hack my account? Do I need to do anything?

I reset my password yesterday anyway, but I'm not sure that matters if the person hasn't actually changed the password yet anyway. And I don't want to do this every time I get this email. It might happen again tomorrow and so on.

I have two-step verification enabled, so I'm hoping there's no way anyone can change my password or even log into my account with my current password without me getting a verification email about it first.

Anyone else getting this lately? Anything else I can do about it?

Thanks!
John

Yep. The same thing happened to me. I came here looking to see if there was a known breach. Perhaps it's developers testing with real data...it wouldn't be the first time I've seen something like that.
That's now three people that I've seen posting about this. Hopefully it's nothing crazy. I'd recommend changing your GOG password to be on the safe side and keep an eye on your email security just in case.

It might also not hurt to get in touch with GOG support. The more people reporting this issue, the more chance that it'll be fixed if there actually is a problem.

Hey John (and everyone). Thanks for letting us know, we're investigating to make sure it's nothing malicious. The only advice for now is to make sure your two-step verification is enabled, and to change your password just in case.
Yeah I have gotten one as well just now.

Any news on what caused this?

Same here, I got one too.

It looks as if people are trying to hack into our accounts.
never save your credit card information on any website. If you get hacked the worst that can happen is that someone download your games, or use your account to mass buy keys for games on sale. in either case, you do not lose any monies.

Got one yesterday. This is the first time since i made this account in 2012 that i recieved a random password reset email from GOG. Let's hope it gets sorted out. Cheers
Quick update if anyone is interested. I contacted GOG about this a while back, and here is the response I received. (It's been a while since they helped -- I didn't just hear from them now!)

Hello,

Your account should be safe in this case. You don't need to change the password each time you receive the password reset e-mail.
We suspect someone was using the password reset form to check if an account exists on GOG.
Have a nice day.
