He is from a Korean PC game from 2001.

The game combines 2 different genres, but in short the design can be described as "love letter to Blizzard Entertainment". The sequels would play very differently and would only come to Xbox and Xbox 360 (until the latest and possibly last instalment, which would come to PC and PS4).

I just found out that this game had a sequel in 2002, featuring the same character (screenshot from sequel below), this time the game is set in middle east, in a holy city of more than one major religion.
