Which Star Wars flight sim has the best single player campaign? I don’t mean graphics, or even really the story, but which one has the best missions and the most fun game play? If there must be a tie breaker then rank them by:

1. Best missions
2. Best story
3. Best graphics

TIE Fighter is quite simply glorious.

Okay, okay. For real? TIE Fighter CD-DOS. It has the music, variety, can be challenging, and covers an area of the Star Wars universe in a way that feels grounded.

TIE Fighter for sure. Play it through and tell me you don't start to feel like a proud Imperial starfighter pilot as you progress. Only the simplistic graphics style has aged the most, but the graphics quality is rather clean and still very playable. X-Wing's missions tended to be less forgiving, and the graphics is terrible (fan mod in the works that looks promising on this front). XvT was a (poor) venture into multiplayer territory and suffered for not having a strong SP campaign / storyline component.

For anyone starting, I always recommend TIE first.

TIE Fighter CD-ROM Collector's Edition (not Special Edition). In your library it would be called "STAR WARS®: TIE Fighter Collector's CD (1995)". This one has the upgraded visuals and the dynamic soundtrack.

X-Wing Alliance is the best-looking game of the series though.

I liked xwing alliance most. I liked the story more and it was a bit easier, which made it defeatable. I couldn't beat tie fighter. But that one has a great feel.

Tie Fighter for number one but X-Wing Alliance is a very close second

Knights of the old republic 1 and 2 and the clone trooper game is a good one.

X-Wing Alliance in my opinion, the best combination of graphics, plot and gameplay.

Incredible that after it, they have never again created a flight sim worthy of this name in the universe of Star Wars.
