This thread is primarily intend as a sort of list of online games that, for whatever reason, have gone to the Great Beyond!

That meaning that the game either has low amount of people on it's server and is basically dead. Or down right you can't connect to any servers due for some reasons ( like: publishers pulling the plug on the servers for before mention reasons or the company hosting the servers is defunct like Gamespy or similar)

So taking inspiration from the Steam group 'Dead MP Games Resurrection Group' I intend to have this thread act as a hub of sort where people can adress interest of playing online games with other people. So in doing so we help some dusty old games (or mods) get some new life in them, at least for a while. And who knows where it goes from there.

But where 'Dead MP Games Resurrection Group' only dealt with games on Steam and only Shooters/FPS/Racing-games at that, we will include everything. No restriction. If it is an obscure game that has a online functionality it can be included on this list. And another thing they refuse to do is include games that can be a bit tricky to get online, never mind games that's difficult to gett running at all. I mean come on neonates! Half the fun of owning a computer is to fool around with it to see if a specific thing work or not.

I'm planing that the thread will have a long list of different games what can be played online, whether the publishers want you or not. That interludes games that is considered abandon. So if you have a problem with that I can respect that. But personally I can't stand games/IPs getting shelved because of often some, quite frankly, bullshit juridical reason. I consider games being art, not always good art, but art nonetheless and they don't deserve to willingly be killed and be forgotten.

So that said to do that list I need your help. Do you know a game that fit the criteria. Good! Let us know! And why not ask around for people. Maybe you'll find someone who want to dabble in whatever game you have mentioned. And you can take it up either in private chat or maybe start a thread solely about that game and I'll include a link too that thread. And if the game is a bit tricky to get online, that's Ok. We like challenges here :) Although I would prefer if there already exist a guide too get it running then me fumbling around trying to figure it out.

And on top of that. We'll do it for charity! For every game that is included I'll donate 5$ from me personally to a charity I thought that we could all agree upon.

I should probably also point out that we all have different computers and they react different on different games. So read the guide of how you set up the game and use your own conclusion if you think this will be safe for your computer or not. To my experience it's rarely ever a negative set back following a well tried guide setting up a game but some guides here may be new and therefore volatile. User discretion advised and all that jazz.

So what say you fellow undertakers? Bring out your dead! :)

It is important that you follow the readme-file included in the download if you want to be able to play this game. What the readme doesn't tell you (presumably the author thought it was self explanatory or something) but you will need to have or create an account at Hi-Rez Studios Homepage. It's free so don't worry. They do no longer support the game but your account works nonetheless. https://www.hirezstudios.com/
You can download the game here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/2sk2h8r9142eaq2/Global+Agenda.7z

Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst

The Legend of Pirates Online/Pirates of the Caribbean Online

Now whether you think the games on this list are any good or not is subjective. We area all different and like different things. Or maybe you don't know that many of them. Because you didn't have time to play them when they were alive. Well maybe now it's your chance :)

pcgamingwiki.com lists most games like this, and if there are anyways to get them working, but you will have to look them up individually.

Good website indeed :)

And a impressive list although far from complete.
And half the reason I started this thread was also so people could by chance find someone to play with. But it's a good homepage if people are requesting a game but don't know hot to get it running. Maybe I'll take it upon myself to set it up and then see what the site have to say :)

I mentioned it as I use it for a lot of my games from here and had noticed it does mention quite often how to get old gamespy games playing now (or if it is even possible to play them anymore). But as I said above you have to go to each individual games page to find out the relative info, I'm not sure if there is a central list or database page for these things there.
So by dead games, you don't actually mean dead games (abandoned games or games which can not be made to work today at all for love of god or monies or even games which have been designed to 'self destruct), but only multiplayer games where the community is very low or the servers are offline?
Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst comes to mind. Ditched by Sega in around 2007/8 if I recall correctly, but still being played on private servers maintained by dedicated fans

Ultima is the busiest - https://www.phantasystaronline.net/ - 60 players online now!

Basically a multiplayer game that is either extremely low on people or impossible to connect to servers the original way due to some reason. Like Crysis Wars as an example. Now sure you can install the game and play it LAN against friends. But if you want to connect and play online against strangers then you'll have to set it up a bit differently since it used to be hosted on Gamespy.

Nice! Thank you! :) This is exactly what I sought with this thread. Highlighting games that is still around even though the publishers/developers have abandoned it. Do you play the game?
