MysterD: 2. If one does buy Metro 2033 Redux on Steam or GOG, do they ALSO give you the old Metro 2033 OG version?
avatar
Grargar: No.
That's a shame.

When they retire the OG version from being sold b/c the new one's now out...
...When you buy the new one - it should also come w/ the old one.

Let the player decide what version's better.

I think Bioshock Remastered still offers the OG version of the game

Now idea about the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape Torment.
Within 10 years there with probably have been 2 new remakes made.
Just wait for the double enhanced edtion with confetti and partyhorns.
The only way we can ever get the original version of Metro 2033 is to vote on gog.com's video games wishlist so that Deep Silver and THQ Nordic release the original versions of both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light on gog.com.

Elmofongo: Because apparently I have read that the Original Version feels like a completely different game from the Redux

I've seen people claiming it had a better atmosphere, somewhat better stealth, and of course the graphics are completely different with completely different character models.

But is it honestly worth trying out the original version of the game at all since we have Redux?
I don't know if you'll see this in time, but the original Metro 2033 is available on Steam right now for free until March 15th, 2021.

That's wonderful. I hope you enjoy it. Naturally we'd all like for GOG to get the original release, perhaps as a bonus goody bundled with the redux, but considering that we have Exodus on GOG and no original 2033, I imagine that's unlikely at this point.
I think it was free on Steam some days ago? I didn't take it as it's not my thing so much and I already had Redux free from Epic.
