One of the cool things I find about buying games on GOG are all of the little "extras" that came with those purchases. Wallpapers, sound tracks, game manuals, maps, developer commentaries, guides, concept art, avatars, icons and even the odd screensaver.

But I've noticed with a lot of my recent purchases a dearth of extras. No wallpapers, no avatars, not even game manuals. And I'm really wondering why, I know that's not the primary reason anyone buys games on GOG, but it was really something special that you didn't get anywhere else. It was something that I thought made GOG extra special.

What do you guys think? Because I would like GOG to continue giving us those little extras that make buying games here even more special.

I believe it has something to do with more modern games in the store.
The goodies came mostly for the old games, the new ones are lacking them.
You must buy them as DLC.
These days, we're lucky if we even get the manual for the game.
Extras for extra money !
A lot of games do have extras. But it's up to the dev/pub to offer the extras in the first place.
This old GOG video seems very appropriate for this thread:

We're on a sentimental trip? Here's a pic from several years ago.

This. Even seen manuals as DLC. Not too mention games getting split out into tiny bits to maximse revenue. Just check out some of the strategy games recently, hundreds of different DLC.

I noticed that, extras like soundtracks, maps and guides that used to be available for buying the games are now available as XYZ Edition "upgrades" for sale. I think they are rarely worth it.

I remember when soundtracks were under the B.G.M menu section.
