Dear Sid Meier,
I really hate to say that, but I have a theory that you became a filthy landlubber!

It's like eleven years since we could taste the adventurous pirate life for the very last time! I don't think I'm the only one who thinks, that one edition of Sid Meier's Pirates! per decade would be fair.

I really hope you would get my message. I'd like to see the new edition as soon as possible. Better graphics, less dancing, console support and we will be fine again.

Damn right! You need to get back to your roots Sid, to your ocean oriented games, like Railroad Tycoon, Alpha Centauri and Gettysburg.

Wait, isn't that land, space, and battle?
Another Pirates! game would be awesome. The last one was hella fun! Dancing was ok, but what I found to be less fun were the land battles and those weird sneaking bits. Ship of the Line ftw!

edit: Also there should be sea monsters!

Yeah I was joking.

I know what loon meant but at first his post comes off as 'all your old games were sea oriented' so I posted three of his early ones that had NOTHING to do with water. :P

Again, I realize that isn't what loon meant, but it's late and I needed a chuckle. :D

You've forgotten one of the painful truths of comedy
He should remake Covert Action but it'll never happen.

Yeah I know, but it;s been a rough day in here and I'd rather be safe.
Well, at least his latest game was focused on ships. :)

Speaking of being safe, for some reason that lady that runs in the fields singing the "The hills are alive with the sound of music" is all that I can think of, which means I should probably get in bed before something bad happens :P
I'm just wondering if the new Pirates! game would have any chance to:
- be produced
- achieve a commercial success

In 1987 it was maybe even the first sandbox (probably not) in video games history. In 2004 it still was on of few sandboxes. But today almost every game has an open world.

I'm just curious if that formula still would have any atributes. And it still should be more strategy than action game I suppose.

I'd be happy with another Sea Dogs/Age of Pirates game. Doesn't have to be a Sid Meier's games.

Not for lack of trying, we can be sure of that.

But the publisher (2k) seems very hard to convince to remove the DRM from their back catalog.
