For me, not buying most games on sale is about most games being lazy knock-offs of their successful original incarnations, or worse, lazy knock-offs of other games.

Why would I buy Huniepot Double Date rated 3.8 at $10.99 (Deal of the Day) when I already own Huniepot (original) which is rated 4.2, and I know from reviews that the additions are hit and miss and don't add enough to the original game? The original is on sale for $1.99.

Why would anyone buy Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries on sale at $1.79 (70% off) when the game has been released open source by the developer and available for free at https://www.7kfans.com/

You can run a dishonest sale if you like, but why would you ever expect honest feedback after because you don't get the sales you want?

Be honest or be ruthless, but you can't have it both ways.

Carradice: The Historically best deals list seems to be a good idea.
Yes, this was a smart addition. Any section breaking down the highest discounts and / or highest historic deals is great!

Lucian_Galca: Games that have had much better sale prices before, but currently worse sale prices is baffling...
A number of discounts are lower than prior sales. For whatever reason many games go way down in price (during sales) and then start climbing again. It's baffling why a publisher would do that... especially on older games. But it happens.

The sale for me was ok.
Discounts weren't as inpressive as in the past, but they were still good.
I grabbed 2 insomnia deals, 3 freebies, plus I have a pair of games in the cart.

Btw I'm actually not a super fan of insomnia sales. They require too much attention and they become annoying if you'll miss deals. At least this time it was limited to 1 day tho.

The problem with such "opinions on sales" is that they depend too much on people's personal libraries. They get judged by people who've been here for 10 years, and snatched almost all the good games, benefited from all the allowed discounts already, and complain about the lack of novelty (in terms of good games or discounts). It's a bit like jaded cinephiles dissing recent movies because "tired tropes", "been there done that", etc, forgetting how many spectators aren't supposed to have previously ingested the whole history of cinema.

I've felt like that with many sales, a while ago. Now, I've been lucky to not have bought (or checked) gog for a very long while, so I had quite a bit of catch-up to do, and this sale has been quite helpful for that. I think it was, as often, pretty okay for customers who haven't been steadily plundering the store for too many years. And that's the angle through which it should be judged.

Too many "nothing for me, lame" reactions in front of gog's big and small sales, in general. Including from me, before I check the long greyed-out already-owned list and go "duh".

Seconded <3 My palate is jaded and I have already the things I desire. Nothing much for me with my old-fashioned tastes.

Been here for about 50 years, man and boy. Sometimes my grandchildren sit at my feet (worryingly, because some of them are in their twenties) to be regailed by grampa's historical tales.

"Mr Gorbachev, tear down that wall!"

"Free Nelson Mandela!" - that was an exciting sale, half the punters still insist that it never happened.

(*should point out that although I've been off the Ibuprofen for 36 hours, it doesn't half take time to leave you)

alexandros050: I would like to see again the "Spend X amount of money and receive a free game" like the ones you used to have 3-4 years ago
I loved those too, but sadly they're counterproductive for Gog, because people will start delaying purchases until the next iteration of such promos with freebies.
My general impression of the GOG sale is that it has been quite a success and has added many great titles to my collection. However, this is a double-edged sword......for me. While the discounts are truly steep, and the availability of titles is ever expanding along with my wishlist, a few dollars here and a few dollars there add up to a lot of dollars gone from my bank account!!! Buying games here is very similar to a gambling addiction. Just one more game; I swear. I can quit any time I want. ;-p

I have a serious suggestion though; User/Buyer rewards. We spend a lot out of loyalty, and it'd be nice to get some extra discounts or freebies based on exactly how we spend here whether at one time as a bulk purchase, or over the duration of a set amount of time such as a business quarter.

I thought the Insomnia Sales or whatever were kinda cool because it reminded me of the Bluelight specials from K-mart in the 80s and built excitement about the next unexpected discount. Keep doing that. What else?

Oh yeah......how about possibly implementing buy x number of games and receive a game of equal or lesser value to that of the most expensive title purchased for free. Lastly, how about price matching to encourage GOG purchases.

EDIT: You guys are doing better, but we need more newer (old) AAA releases, and better giveaway titles. I mean it's not good when the giveaway titles are titles nobody would ever buy anyway.

Getting rewards in in-store currency might be nice.
There is a thing called https://www.gog.com/en/wallet. Paying monthly credit for games on income day and predicting promotions might help to buy any desired game. Please reward payments into the wallet, -as said by Carradice.
(also checking minimum system requirements for games helps to play them : ) therefore]please tag games with low and medium system requirements.

my wallet seems to dislike it a lot
especially because i bought nearly a 100 games

shame i missed streets of rage 4
I liked the sale a lot, and got a fair number of games.
I think this is not technically part of the sale, but it was nice to have the launch of Shadow of Mordor with a good discounted price.

I loved that for all categories or sections of the deal, my owned titles were sorted last, so they woulnd't get in the way.

It was also nice to be able to exclude owned titles and/or DLCs from browsing.

I'd like to have more good FPS and RPG games, especially those from Ubisoft/Bethesda. Far Cry 3 and Skyrim are already Good Old Games!

I'd like better titles offered in the flash deals section.
I added some (really) small amount to my GOG wallet but ended up only use $0.99 of it to bought North & South for nostalgic reason. GOG still got my money regardless.

It's a combination of multiple things. I'd probably spend more if more games hit historical low. The US dollar price didn't help but whatever.
