ssling: At least from opinions I saw it doesn't seem like particularly good or interesting game.
It's actually got some of the same humor as the other two games, and some light interactions beyond combat....plus: *spoiler* dat moon level* *end spoiler*

ssling: Think I'll pass on that one. (snip) I'm not a fan of pure shooters.
Fair enough :)
The 2 NOLF games are like "Theif" in they are largely stelath oriented. (2 lightly less so,it does not have as many "if you are discovered game over mussions) but, franky, if you are looking for a shootout based game you should look elsewhere.
BTW I love both games; but the Contract Jack game sucks, frankly.

I agree it's different and not really a NOLF game, but as GamezRanker said - that moon level!!! I'm just upset we never got NOLF 3.
NOLF 2 is one of the most bizarre games I've played. I mean, the tricycle chase, "lol".

Well it obviously wasn't a "proper" NOLF game(it was more of a spinoff).....hence the title ;)

And yeah....dat moon level.....lazerz pew pew pew! ;D

Like Dead Space 4, Advent Rising 2+, Anachronox 2+, etc.....it is shelved, for a "short" time or maybe even longer.....still, with the various games that got revived later on, I hold out hope. :)

And the man crates, and the kyller robots, and the lonely rejected super-soldier......etc etc ;D

I enjoyed playing NOLF 1 and NOLF 2 immensely. So to answer your question: yes, NOLF 2 is worth playing! :D

But..., I remember experiencing something similar to you when I started playing NOLF 2. As soon as I had launched the game, I noticed that NOLF 2 was much "darker" in atmosphere than NOLF 1. Gone were the over-the-top bright color schemes and kitschy silliness of the surroundings. The second thing that immediately struck me was Cate Archer's voice: it was not the same as in NOLF 1! I later discovered that Kit Harris provided Cate's voice in the first game and Jen Taylor provided Cate's voice in NOLF 2 (to her credit, she did a great job).

I almost abandoned NOLF 2 because of those two observations, fearing the game would be stripped of charm and comedy. I'm glad I pushed forward, past my initial shock. NOLF 2 might have "mutated" a little bit, but it still provided me with loads of funny dialog, great music, and entertaining enemies. It was a riot to play!

But NOLF 1 will always remain my first love.

Difference is now it's shelved permanently because legal mumbo jumbo so even if someone wanted, couldn't do that until it's sorted out.
But on a side note there sadly doesn't seem to be much demand for this type of games. I mean FPP which are not pure shooters preferably with competitive multiplayer. From last decade I can't think of one which would be significant hit. Dishonored 2 and Prey didn't sell too well, Deus Ex franchise got frozen by Square after Mankind Divided disappointing results. Latest Thief was mediocre game but also didn't sell. But if anyone then I'm sure Arkane would do great NOLF 3.

That's the only reason why there has not been a NOLF3. Despite taking a long sleep the franchise is still very popular and heavily requested here and else where (as its not available officially digitally, though you can get the original CD versions working under modern systems quite easily.)

Now if only the companies which own the rights could be bothered to actually look for them, rather than just sending takedown messages.

Yeah, it was a bit "darker" at the start, but after that it added on silliness/etc in bucket loads. :D

Also Jock Blaney as the sinister Volkov, John Patrick Lowrie as Bruno, and Ken Boynton as Santa....among other awesome VAs. :)

Eh, if System Shock 1/2 could get sorted out, then imo there's a hope and a chance. :)

Well they haven't sent any to the nolf revival site owners(and they're well aware of that site)......which imo is a nice move on their part......and one I wish more older game IP holders would do.
(i.e. silently/unofficially allow people to DL their older games)

Unmodified then yes I wish more would, officially allow it.

But that site has modified the games, so its not really the original experience. Even if you were to add the NOLF modernizer patch to it (which you have to do for CD releases under Windows 10) it doesn't hardbake changes to the game you can just remove a .rez file.

Imo it's close enough, though, as it's mainly just multiplayer/widescreen fixes and etc.

As for the originals: I assume one could find them easily on sites like the internet archive
