As a number of people here, I was very happy to see Drakensang release on GOG.

And when it did, knowing that the Drakensang games in the US were published by the same discount publisher (COSMI/ValuSoft), I was pretty certain that it was just a matter of time before...

... Drakensang: The River of Time (and dlc)...

... released here as well.

That seems to have been... well... wrong.

Drakensang: The River of Time never came to GOG.

I just figured Drakensang: The River of Time never released digitally because of some rights issue, but...

... today I found out I was wrong!

Searching Steam's store I found...

... Drakensang: The River of Time available for sale (alongside Drakensang) ! And yes, the publisher was COSMI/ValuSoft.

So why has it not shown up here on GOG?

Anyone have an idea on this?
So if I got you right, you were talking about Drakensang: The River of Time, right?

At least to me it certainly seemed as if you were talking about Drakensang: The River of Time. Correct me if I were wrong and you weren't talking about Drakensang: The River of Time but something else instead, other than Drakensang: The River of Time.

No. I was clearly talking about Ride to Hell: Retribution
Seems that Drakensang: The River of Time has issues running on modern windows, unlike Ride to Hell: Retribution. So you're better off waiting on the latter.

I have a disc copy that runs fine... albeit windowed.

This. There are indications (there is an entry for it in the GOG database) that GOG was going to release it along with the first game in the series, but due to technical issues those plans were probably scrapped.

A few years ago, "Drakensang: Am Fluss der Zeit" ("Drakensang: The River of Time") was digitally available in an online store, here in Germany.
If I remember correctly, the same was true for its add-on "Phileassons Geheimnis" ("Phileasson's Secret").

Though, a quick attempt to reach the site now, seems to indicate that that store no longer exists.
A bummer - they had some nice (DRM-free) games on offer.

Yeah, the Steam version seems to be the only way (apart from buying a retail version on Amazon, Ebay, etc) to get the game nowadays.
I would love to have that game too. Is it really so difficult to bring here a 2011 game? Is the publisher so stubborn maybe? I'm currently playing Drakensang for the second time and, having read how much better the River of Time is, I really wonder how it is like...!

Edit: I have already checked all the relevant entries in the community wishlist...

I have Drankensang and the two dlc's on disc. You can still get them on Amazon if you want. I don't know about DRM on the discs, but you probably can find NOCD patches for them. I am actually planning on installing them on a Windows 7 laptop I converted to Win XP.

See here for the Amazon (US) webpage (US$9.99).

The UK page of the same item mentions it having four bonus games (which seem completely unrelated) along with a 50% price hike.

The CDs of the original game and the River of Time (without expansion) that I purchased both had disc checks, needing no-CD patches.

Note that there is a wishlist entry for River of Time, plus multiple threads discussing it in the Drakensang forum.

Definitely one of the few RPGs I don't own. Hope the technical issues get sorted out someday.
