Gog frequently manipulates reviews in a variety of ways to make games look more attractive than they are.
For example, If too many negative reviews of a new game gets upvoted to the front page, then all votes will be removed and a bunch of 0/0 5star reviews will take up the front page.
This repeats until the most positive reviews have the most votes.

Craig234: There's a game, "not tonight", which shows a rating of about 2.5 stars with 200 ratings; but the only reviews shows are three 5-star reviews.

Is it just that only those three people wrote reviews? It seems unlikely with those numbers. Were some reviews hidden or removed? Or what?

Gog has been very buggy lately. Changed my av over a day ago (nothing nasty or offensive, of course) and still waiting. The Gogmixes are falling to pieces, forum pages seem a bit slow to load too. On the other hand it could be any of the above reasons. Maybe dev/pub pressure?

i always try to give honest reviews and ratings, most of them are immature kids who can give a bad rating on a game they have never played, forget these idiots. as long as you like a good review and give it a thumbs up,they is not a lot you can do I’m afraid

Seems people are far more interested in shouting at each other over the game than buying, playing or reviewing it.
So I was not going insane, cheers! And yes, this whole game forum thing is just a front: really, it's a political forum. :p

The removal of all votes happens to games that are almost entirely positive as well. It's just GoG is rather incompetent when it comes to the website - not that that's necessarily better mind you...

Fix your website GoG!

bizarrely I was not sent a PM or some other appropriate message, but it was hidden in a rather "sneery" support request ticket that I had not made! I only knew about it when I got an email inviting me to say whether I was "satisfield with the service" over this ticket, or not! That got me worried too, I thought, "who's sent that? It was not me!", made me think my account had been compromised!

Actually I'm not going to discuss it here in public - as I'm going to make a complaint, not so much about the review being taken down, as yes, fine, it wasn't appropriate - but for the bizarre reasons I was given as to why, 90% off ALL reviews on the entire site should be taken down too. It's a very snide form of censorship methinks.

Anyway, my complaint is about the actual "support agent" involved. I'm not naming names.

The reason why a comment might be removed from the Review section of our website is because it does not meet the guidelines of a review.

A review should be about the product itself, its features, gameplay elements etc.

We are always happy to help to clarify any technical issues or concerns you may be experiencing with the game or our service through our support ticket system.

Sorry for any inconvenienced you may have experienced.
