Trilarion: I would love to answer the question of what I would not miss if I were sent to centuries ago.

What I would miss? Heating, Health care, Supermarkets, Electricity, Plumbing, ...

Tauto: You need to *rough* it a bit.

You wouldn't miss FIFA, the IOC, and traffic.
Nuclear weapons.
Which is bad, because it means control-freaks of religion and politics would gather a large crowd of people to whack each other to death with primitive weaponry to serve control-freak interest.

Nuclear polution.
Which is good.

Computers.
Which is bad, because its a strong hit to creativity and engineering.

Teflon.
Which is good, because it contributes to gastric cancer. Cast iron ftw.

This is 1000x times better from economic and hygiene standpoint.

I can't agree more. Also, ditch those foam cans that are full of chemicals and opt for a better, (more) natural product. :)
My medication and proper care and welfare. I would probably end up begging on the streets or being locked up in a 'dolhuis' (the medieval Dutch word for asylum).
Come to think of it, i would also miss the books i am reading. Some eons ago, they burnt such books, plus their readers on a stake, brrr...
Not being able to just Google any stupid question that pops into my head.
Clean running water
Flushing toilets
Toilet Roll
Family / Friends (if I am the only person sent back in time)
Instant Coffee
Modern medical care treatments, I'd hate to have something needing to be amputated without anesthetic !!

On the plus side, I've generally weened my computer / social networking addictions out of my system, so I don't "think" that I'd miss it that much. The air would be much cleaner (unless I was sent back to the Industrial Revolution era), and no cars honking horns / car alarms going off / etc..

Actually... I'd rather enjoy it, provided I wasn't going to be thrown into the 'upper class' (too posh for me) or being on of the poor 'down and outs' living in rags, covered in mud.

:)
According to my folks, even centuries ago, I'd still miss the bowl!
