It really doesn't. All it really means is that people stopped using Yahoo. I mean shit, I'd forgotten Yahoo was even still around.

You're seriously overestimating popularity and importance of Yahoo mail. Not to mention, it's still there, they're just having some issues.

An outage by one lesser service doesn't mean the "death" of e-mail. Google / Microsoft aren't going anywhere, and there's a lot more to e-mail in general than those two (eg, ISP provided addresses, private / corporate e-mail servers). I think I had a Yahoo address once and it was definitely the worst service of all compared to MS / Google, with huge swathes of the page dedicated to pushing unwanted Yahoo News. No great loss at all.
So, those madmen finally did it and hunted down emails until they've become extinct!?

Tell that to my inbox at the office every morning...
You'd make a great post in r/talesfromtechsupport.

As one of the clueless users.
I didn't realise Yahoo was still around and as for emails. Really,no offence but I couldn't care less as I'm sick of deleting all the BS scammers and BS sales advertising that seem to come in after buying something from some store or where ever and the rest of those cretins.

They'll hire a singing gorilla.
Yahoo has a temporary outage>Yahoo gone>All E-mails providers gone

That leap of logic though...
My mail server is running fine. Well, "fine" is a relative term, but it kinda-sorta works. I really should work on getting the new server running and moving the data there.

The awesome thing about email is that it isn't dependent on any given provider. Unlike many services that claim to be "email killers" or "replacements", it's a completely decentralised system.
No more e-mail....

You might as well ask "What will GOG do when there is no more internet"?

:P
The better question is what you will do when Yahoo email is no more, change or quit internet ? it's not GOGs job.
Carrier pigeons?
