So I was poking around my account and saw there's a page with all the games and gifts I've bought here at gog. To my surprise, I saw that an old gift key has not been used. The key is from 2012.

I bought several keys at the time with the intention of giving them away, and all the others have been redeemed. I THOUGHT I gave them all away, but it's possible I missed one, for whatever reason.

So here's my dilemma. Either I did gift the key and for some reason it hasn't been redeemed in 8 years, or I didn't gift it. I'm thinking that if someone does have the key and hasn't redeemed it by now, either they've lost the key, forgot they had it, their account/email/harddrive was lost, or they don't want it. I'd hate to give it away again and cause anyone trouble, including gog ("I thought your keys never expired, this one's expired, you guys suck!!!111"). But really, after eight years? I must have not given it.

So does anyone have any comments about this? Any reason I shouldn't give it away (again)? People don't have to play games I give them, but I don't like keys being unused... it just seems wasteful. I'd have done this a long time ago if I'd noticed this.

I'm planning on giving it to the gog game giveaway. Thoughts?

The veritable "Statute of Limitations" has been served and the game key belongs to its current bearer. Do with it as you will.

If you bought it, it should still be good.

If it was a freebie code from a gog giveaway after the Fallout classic removal giveaway, then it's probably expired.

couldn't you go to the redeem page and see if it's still valid though? It should say if it expired on that page after you enter it, then you can just click on cancel.

^ This. If your check reveals it's still valid, then do with it as you will. Give it to someone you deem worthy or post it somewhere and allow someone random to take it. If a friend didn't activate the code you gave them, then they obviously didn't want it imo.
