LinuxPusher: It's April !
Looking again, I will probably install both Linux Mint and Ubuntu LTS for now

Windows 10 updated to version 1909 this morning and damaged my attached backups, Removed system restore and system images
Lucky for me I keep separate Drives with Images and Back ups, Only 1 was attached at the time
May I recommend what I do? Triple boot :)

I am using Mint 19.3, Manjaro and Windows 10 on this laptop.

Mint is my primary OS. I do everything I can here. It just works and works splendidly.

Windows 10, is for my engineering programs. MATLAB and MATCAD has Linux versions but giants like Solidworks, ADAMS etc refuse to work with or without WINE. Also, I noticed that games like Civilization 5, Crusader Kings 2 and Divinity: Original Sin work better on Windows 10 even tho they have Linux versions.

Manjaro for its incredible speed while programming and compiling. I didn't try much but I wouldn't recommend it for gaming.
I game on Manjaro and there have been the occasional hiccup but I have solved all fast. Did not feel like setting up loads of PPAs and hope running much newer kernel than recommended for Mint would run me into problems.
I game on Fedora, but I'm a madman. I also have philosophical issues with Debian's entire way.

The Only download option for " A story about my Uncle " is a windows exe.
QUESTIONS:
1.) Is there a tutorial on how to find the proper tar file so I can install my Linux games on my LMDE ?
EDIT: If I need wine that defeats the purpose of having Linux for games

2.) Did Gog get bought out by another game platform ?

Thank you
LP

Plllllbt. This is why I don't suggest things like Linux Mint. You're using a LTS of a LTS, so chances are something is going to be gong show obsolete, backports and such be damned if they can't be bothered to actually update to mainstream.

Anywhomstve, the LDD command is your friend. For example, if I wheel on over on /Starbound/game/linux/ LDD the Starbound binary, a list of linked library files will happily spring open. If you find something missing that isn't libsteam_api, then you can try using your local package manager to install them. Don't be surprised or shocked if the version packed is out of date or invalid for use.

Let me put it definitively. Simple-scan on Fedora is version 3.36.3-1.
Mint is at least 6 whole versions behind or even alarmingly moreso behind.

If one of the co-creators of Netscape has a beef with this kind of issue, you should too.

Hey,

Sorry, I do not have any experience with the Debian Edition. That's why it is not wise for me to give you any advice on the subject. Why have you gone with the LMDE anyways?

However, I can tell you how installing normally works on Mint. Just like there are exe files in Windows, Debian based distros usually use .deb files as installers. However, sometimes the installers are script-based, which GOG prefers. Those are ".sh" files. For example, the installer for Wasteland 2 is gog_wasteland_2_director_s_cut_2.3.0.5.sh. After downloading that sh or deb file, you simply double click them and it installs. Sometimes you may need to mark them as executable. You do that by right clicking the file >> properties >> permissions >> "Allow executing file as program"

Btw, on your account page where you see games, make sure that the System is set to Linux.

Hi, This worked for me change to " executable" for A Story About My Uncle 1 piece download, Thank You I missed that part the first time I read your answer.
I am DL The Witcher 2 which is in 3 parts I am trying to keep things organized I will put all parts into a Witcher 2 folder
I am trying to not make a mess of my clean LMDE4 install,
When I try to install I am not sure if it find all the parts during install or if I need to install all 3 separately
Making a backup Timeshift RSYNC before I install
" Why have you gone with the LMDE anyways? " Stability I keep having issues with new versions, Strange since my hardware is Ryzen

Hey, I am glad setting it as executable worked.

What do you mean 3 parts? When I try to download the witcher 2 for linux, I see 1 20GB HUGE file called..

the_witcher_2_assassins_of_kings_enhanced_edition_en_release_3_20150306204412_20992.sh

How did you manage to separate it into 3 different files?
GOG website keeps changing back to Windows so you have to change it to Linux, if there is a Linux version.
