Rhodax: But why bother with this allocating stuff at all? I have tons of room and it only takes less than a millisecond to check available space. I defrag on a schedule so its never a problem, why should galaxy decide for itself that my drive needs defragging? Which it doesn't by the way, brand new machine and defragged right after I killed all the bloatware and useless windows stuff.
I've never seen steam do anything like this. It just downloads and installs like you would expect.
Think I'll just go back to regular downloading.
It allocates because checking free space at the start of the download doesn't guarantee there will be space left by the time the download finishes, especially if someone is using a a low capacity SSD that's almost full. And Galaxy isn't deciding anything, it's going to pre-allocate space when downloading any game.
And if you've never seen steam do this you haven't installed many large steam games lately.
