Hello everyone. Currently I have a Toshiba Satellite 17 inch laptop with windows 10. I love it. I have had it for years and it is falling apart. I am doing early research for a new laptop. I would love to have a 16 inch screen . I only do basic things on the laptop, mostly browsing the internet, sometimes a little gaming. Budget wise i would like to be around $900 or less, but I wouldn't mind spending more for high quality.
I have searched on the internet,
MSI GL62M 7RE-407 might a good chioce, any other recommendations for a quality 16 inch laptop?
Thank you for the feedback.

Depends on what kind of games. New AAA games with heavy graphics, or some casual indie games?

Wouldn't basically any cheapo entry-level 15.6" laptop do? I don't even know why you should pay $900 for it, which can give you quite a beefy gaming laptop already, but is quite an overkill for "browsing the internet, sometimes a little gaming". The only thing you should check is that is has a proper SSD or HDD in it (with minimum 250GB of space), not those silly cheapest "laptops" which had mere 32-64GB or such of mass storage space on a SD card. Those are more like "Windows tablets with a keyboard".

Or are there some specific things you are looking for in your laptop, for which you would be willing to pay up over $900 for a casual laptop? It is hard to suggest without knowing how important e,g, the keyboard quality, or the amount of ports (Thunderbolt?), or the GPU power, or the lightness of the laptop, or the display color quality?

Does the laptop normally stay in one place most of the time, do you use a table for it or have to operate it often resting on your lap, do you walk around several miles every day with the laptop in your backpack, etc.? Is an internal optical drive (DVD-RW or Bluray) a necessiity, or don't you use optical drives at all anymore?

MSI GL62M 7RE-407 looks like a decent choice with good RAM, disk, CPU and GPU balance.

However, in order to be able to suggest it to you, we need to know what you are planning to do with it. You are saying you do basic things on the laptop. You need to elaborate "sometimes a little gaming". What exactly are those games? So we need...

1. Which games are you planning to play?
2. Your Laptop usage per day. (in hours)
3. How often do you take your lappy and go somewhere else...(for weight and battery)
4. How good are you with computers. (in case you'll need tech assistance)

Timppu asked pretty good questions as well.
