dtgreene: In Tangledeep, the Floramancer job can learn the ability to summon a spitting plant, which acts like a turret (ranged attacks, can't move).
Well, then we also have to add "Plants versus Zombies",...the Peashooter (and its variants) counts definitely as an auto turret.
This one does and a lot more.

Tales of Maj'Eyal has the Annihilator class that can deploy turrets in addition to other things like a mechanical spider or heavy weapons (flamethrowers, shock staff, rocket pods, etc)
A number of real-time strategy games have defensive structures that attack enemies that get too close..... Age of Mythology, Rise of Nations, Starcraft, etc.

In Divinity: Original Sin 2, characters who invest in summoning (which tends to be all-or-nothing) can deploy totems, which are immobile but possess ranged attaks. Like all ranged attackers in this game, they even benefit from a range and damage increase by being on higher elevation.

Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs has an engineer (optional recruit) who can summon a turret, among other gadget-themed abilities.

with that anology you can also add diablo 2 and 3 to the list.
Why, because of a single spell the soccerer have access to

and you can thin the line by saying well if Diablo 2&3 are in the list why ain't Wolcen?
the blackhole spell is not a tower/turret but have the same property's. etc.

i think the OP means games that really revolves around turrets in general
In Overwatch you can choose to play as an auto-turret.

Well, the OP did add that tower defense games are not in the interest and with tower defense games being an derative of a turtled rts player he also might have meant that rts games are not in the realm of acceptance.

Your choices would add nicely to my earlier suggestions Grim Dawn and Titan Quest though admittedly, i left some room for others ;p

( hence why Dawn of War 2 as a tactical sport is more suited to be named in this topic then any true rts )

kai2: (I'm interested in all genres except tower defense)
Awww....

Well Bionic Dues has turrets which will automatically shoot at anything within range.... With very limited ammo.
Battlezone & Battlezone 2 has turrets which well used could be effective.
-Guildwars 2
The engineer class. It feels sooo good to use auto turrets in mMMORPG :D

-9th Dawn III

Go pets go!

vv221: In the first Torchlight, the Vanquisher class can summon a "Flechette Trap", that acts like a static auto-turret.
And once i got that and upgraded it, it was about the only skill i used, as I'd drop turrets everywhere...
I've just remembered - Dungeon Keeper 2 has an auto turret as one of the traps.
Ring Runner has an entire class of ships focused on deploying turrets.
STAR WARS™ Battlefront™ II (Classic, 2005)
As a sniper class, you can deploy an auto turret. I guess the purpose of this is to allow you to scope without having to worry every second about an enemy ambushing you from areas you least expect.

BioShock Infinite
The auto turrets in this game aren't exactly yours to begin with, but with your Possession vigor, you'll be able to control and turn them against your enemies. You can also instruct Elizabeth to summon auto turrets that are present in tears.

Wait, I don't play Overwatch, but if you can play as an auto turret, would it no longer be automatic, at least for you? o.o (while others would perceive you as an auto turret, the whole automation thing is actually you manually aiming and shooting since you ARE the auto turret, if that makes sense)
