The easy answer is, "Anything that runs under DOSBOX". Which means a whole lot of games.

Edit: guessing around 2002 or so.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say anything from 2004 and earlier...

Except maybe Far Cry. I think that rig would choke if you tried to run Far Cry.

1.4Ghz processor and 256Mb recommended... should work fine. Although you might have to run it at something like 1024x768 for it to be fine, or turn down some graphical options.

I suppose it will run, but having played that game all the way through, something tells me you'd be getting like 8 or 9 fps. Who knows. Maybe he's not even into first person shooters?

I got hopelessly lost of what was going on or what to do in it, so i gave up early on...

You've got to take it slowly, scout with your binoculars and take enemies one at a time. If you charge in, you'll die quick. The enemy AI is really good, got to be careful and take your time with Far Cry and you'll be rewarded with a chess-like FPS that requires patience and planning.

PFt. Enemy AI is average at best. The fact that they keep respawning after you get 10 feet away from them really sucks too,

I don't mind taking my time, but I recall getting spotted by enemies when I couldn't see 5 feet in front of me (due to foliage). Quite annoying.

Kinda wish there were objectives laid out, at least at first until you knew what you were doing.

There is no respawning in the first Far Cry.

That works for the first few levels. Then you start running into psychic bullet sponge mutants and close quarters combat. And helicopters.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Bear in mind that DOSBox has its own overheads. It will struggle with that PC, especially with higher-end titles that need cycle counts in excess of 10000 (so basically anything 3D). That means: no Tomb Raider, no Screamer etc.

Correct I was thinking of FC2. Still wasn't terribly impressed with the AI.
Pong, Pacman, Tetris.

Far Cry 2 is great. The enemies in FC2 respawn if you enter a new map so if you feel it happened when moving 10 feet, then you were very close to the edge of a map, and went back and forth across the map border.

The enemies (like police, gang members etc.) respawn also on other GTA like games, and I don't see people complaining. After all, that is what Far Cry 2 basically is, a first-person GTA game in Africa. If there was no respawning, then the maps would be quite empty quite soon.

Anyway, quite often you don't even need to fight the enemies in FC2, just speed through with your truck. If some of them follow with their jeep, shoot it down with that big gun at the back of your truck and continue driving. Easy peasy.
