What do you think about the Fable games?

I've never played any of them and know very little about the franchise.

I have only ever played the first one.
I liked it.
The way the NPCs reacted to you, in regard of how you developed your character was great.
Being able to buy a house, marry, etc...
A fun game.
I liked them, although I never got very far in either of the ones I played. After a while I would just walk around and fart around people to see how they'd react.
I played only Fable: The Lost Chapters (Fable 1 first editon for PC) and Fable 3 games. Fable 2 was a XBOX 360 console exclusive and back then I decided to not invest into it.

Fable 1 was really great and fun to play but for some reason I decided to postpone it and have not finished to this day.

Fable 3 was a complete mess gameplay wise. I spent about 2 or 3 hours on that game and it was one of the most boring games of all time for me personally so I quit and unistalled it and never looked back.

I still don't understand why MS never bothered with Fable 2 port for PC but Fable 1 got another edition as Fable: Anniversary. I heard Fable 2 was a nice game.
I must have finished the first Fable at least six times across the original Xbox, PC and Anniversary versions. It has some decent combat and adventuring gameplay, and some very original ideas. Lots of that British charm as well. It's quite short as well. You can easily finish it in a few evenings, and I do think there's never a boring moment in those hours.

Somehow I think Fable 2 was even better. I spent many days pouring unhealthy amounts of hours into it, and the same happened again years later when it was made playable on Xbox One. Gameplay is mostly the same as the first game, but the world is bigger, and you have a dog now. Talking about it now makes me want to play it again.

Fable 3 is.. well, I never played more than a few hours. It is the black sheep of the series, and I personally didn't find it very captivating either.

Also.. don't exclusively use food as healing items. Your character will become obese ;) One of my Fable 2 characters was a 150kg highwayman with a blunderbuss. He was also close to 100 years old (I played quite a while on that save).
Lovely game the first. Played it many times, though by now it likely lost its charm other than for nostalgic reasons.
Think of it as a Brothers Grimm fable, dark, ruthless and not necessarily with a good end.

I played only first one long ago and now don't remember how the aging was resolved there. Was it happening at fixed stages or gradually all the time? Could you die naturally if you'd play too long on one save? Were there other implications of it than just look (like stats bonuses/penalties)?
I only ever played Fable 2 despite having 1 installed on my Xbox. Back then it was... okay. Mind you, I was still kicking around Oblivion, so it seemed really limited by comparison. Main quest is short and over by the time you blink, game in general was too easy, and the boss battles are garbage. It was very charming and handcrafted in many ways, but then a lot of it was also superfluous gimmicks, what with the job minigames, the social mechanics, etc. I still had fun with it, but I wouldn't give it much more than a 3 out of 5.
The only good game is the first one.

It's been a while, but I think it was purely cosmetic and happened gradually. I never had a character die of old age, so I think it stops the aging after a set limit.
